How’s this for Oscar Bait: The Blind Side director John Lee Hancock helms Kelly Marcel‘s 2011 Black List script about Walt Disney’s 14-year effort to convince author P.L. Travers to allow him to adapt her novel Mary Poppins into a film, with Emma Thompson in talks to play Travers, and Tom Hanks on board to play Walt? Might as well start handing out the Oscars now and get it over with.

We’ve been hearing a lot of talk from behind the scenes of Sony’s upcoming sequel Men in Black III. The unconventional shooting schedule has a lot of people questioning whether or not everything is up to code with the production. The sequel began shooting this week in New York City, but will break for two months after the holidays. Not a few weeks, a few months! Either way, some set photos have surfaced online and they feature a couple of its stars, Oscar winner Emma Thompson and former Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger. Take a look…

The cast of Men in Black 3 just got infused with more Oscar winning power. Tommy Lee Jones won’t be the only statue holding actor in Sony’s new sci-fi sequel. According to THR, Emma Thompson (Nanny McPhee Returns) is signing on to co-star in a supporting role. This shouldn’t be a shock, it couldn’t stay a boys club forever!

The stern babysitter with a magical cane has come back to the big screen in Nanny McPhee Returns. It’s a follow up to the 2005 film that starred Emma Thompson as an unconventional nanny who makes it her business to turn wild, unruly children into well behaved citizens. Emma Thompson is a two-time Academy Award winning British actress who recently got a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. She’s appeared in such classics as Sense and Sensibility, In the Name of The Father, The Remains of the Day, and Howard’s End. Not only is she a talented actor but she knows her way around a screenplay too. Her latest writing/acting collaboration is for the family film, Nanny McPhee Returns, a sequel to the 2005 hit in which she plays a nanny who has a magical way of teaching children manners and life lessons.
In Returns she’s joined by 5 new children and a new parent in need of help (played by Maggie Gyllenhaal). Thompson recently attended a round table interview in Los Angeles to promote the film and discussed how she came up with another story to add to the Nanny McPhee legacy…

Time for Nanny McPhee Returns a follow up and upgrade from the good ol’ fashioned PG film Nanny McPhee, a series reminiscent of Mary Poppins but for a slightly more modern generation. The cast is definitely enough to get me into the theater, Emma Thompson, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Rhys Ifans, Ewan McGregor, Ralph Fiennes and Maggie Smith – at least you know that the performances will be well done! And who can resistant the charming Thompson even when she has a tooth jutting out of her face? Apparently, Thompson also had a hand in adapting the children’s book “Nurse Matilda” written by Christianna Brand for the big screen, and this installment is directed Susanna White. Female power!
