Earlier this week, there were rumors that Emma Stone was in negotiations to play Mary Jane Watson in Sony’s Spider-Man reboot. That story has been turned on its ear by the studio who just sent out a press release announcing Stone has joined the Spidey team as Gwen Stacy. She’ll co-star alongside The Social Network’s Andrew Garfield who will play the title character and his alter ego Peter Parker. More on the casting…

Funny girl Emma Stone will put her flaming red locks to use when she stars opposite Andrew Garfield in Spider-Man. The star of Easy A was previously named as one of the contenders to play a pivotal female role in Sony’s reboot and according to a recent report from Deadline, she’s been officially offered the part of Mary Jane Watson.

Over the past 3 years Emma Stone has slowly but surely cemented herself as one of the most promising young actors in Hollywood. Her big break was in the 2007 comedy Superbad, and from there she starred in hit after hit including The House Bunny and Zombieland. This year, she’s taking center stage as the star of an unconventional teen comedy called Easy A.
The film centers on a high school girl who lies about her sexual escapades and gets crucified by the student body because of it. We recently got the opportunity to sit down and talk with Stone about her first headlining role and her experiences during the shoot. She also spoke about her heroes and career influences, as well as her upcoming project The Help, which is based on a best selling and acclaimed novel of the same name. No pressure there…

This weekend take a trip down memory lane and relive the awkwardness of high school with the help of Emma Stone and John Hughes. Easy A is a comedy that slightly mirrors the tale of the literary classic The Scarlet Letter but that’s just a tip of the iceberg. It’s more about the representation of young love and relationships in Hollywood, and pokes fun at them with the help of every 80s movie cliche in the book. It’s fun, it’s entertaining, and most importantly it’s clever.

Director Will Gluck of Fired Up! and the upcoming Friends with Benefits, has come up with another high school romantic comedy to add to the vault of teenage dreams gone by. Only this one has a bit of hope! Not only does it appear to have some kind of story to it it also boosts quite an impressive cast. The film stars Emma Stone (my new favorite since Paper Man) and costars Thomas Haden Church, Patricia Clarkson, Stanley Tucci, Penn Badgley, Amanda Bynes, Cam Gigandet, Lisa Kudrow, Malcolm MacDowell, and Aly Michalka.

Michele Mulroney and Kieran Mulroney’s film Paper Man originally premiered last year at LA Film Festival where it was loved, cherished, and left without a home until now. It has finally worked its way to the public and will be released in select theaters April 23rd (yay!).
The film is sweet and charming with a darkly comedic edge. It’s filled with amazing acting and if you’re a film-lover, you’ll appreciate the amazing details that went into making the film. From the lighting to the costumes there were so many good decisions made on this film. To top it off it beautifully balances comedy with drama and treats it’s viewers like they have a brain.

Vanity Fair has released the cover of their annual Hollywood issue and it features several actresses who are described as the “fresh faces” of the new decade. Too bad the majority of them have been around for years, but main stream media is just now catching on to them. Kristen Stewart and Evan Rachel Wood lead the pack of nine that headline the issue. Here’s the full photo…

This past weekend the Ruben Fleischer horror-comedy Zombieland dominated the box office with a cool 25 million dollar opening, which isn’t bad for an R-rated movie. Many positive reviews have come in from both fans and critics, so it’s no surprise that sequel rumors are starting to circulate. Over at MTV, they spoke to the film’s screenwriter Paul Wernick who seems to be more than happy to work on a follow up.
