One look at The Five-Year Engagement and you’ll know it’s a Judd Apatow production. It’s got all the Apatow touches like profanity, men acting like children and a stellar supporting cast. Co-written by Forgetting Sarah Marshall’s Jason Segel and Nicholas Stoller, the movie stars Emily Blunt and Segel as Violet and Tom, a recently engaged couple who go through many obstacles to keep their relationship afloat.

The Plot:

When Tom Solomon (Jason Segel) proposes to his girlfriend Violet Barnes (Emily Blunt), things don’t go as planned. The pair has to relocate after Violet’s offered a job at the University of Michigan, inadvertently pushing their engagement back five years (hence the title). This gives them more than enough time to question whether or not their marriage is actually in the cards.

The Good:

The Supporting Cast: The supporting cast is top notch, many of them picked from NBC’s current Thursday night line-up. There’s Chris Pratt from Parks and Recreation; Alison Brie from Community; and Mindy Kaling from The Office. Each is given their moment to shine and they bring it. Pratt and Brie pick up the film when it gets a bit slow and have their fair share of witty banter; While Kaling is similar to her Office character [Kelly Kapoor] making smart remarks and gossipy comments. There’s also the fabulous Jacki Weaver, an amazing dramatic actress, who proves she can tackle comedy just as well. Then there were actual comedians like Kevin Hart, Brian Posehn and Chris Parnell, who showcased their individual humor.
Wacky Premise, But Good Story: Stoller and Segel’s story begins where most romantic comedies end — after the protagonists have fallen in love. Their job was to follow a couple that’s already achieved what most rom-com characters are looking for. Therefore, the screenplay had to keep us engaged and interested in something else — and it did. The Five-Year Engagement explores the realities of long-term relationships, touching upon themes of love and loss.
Lunch Scene (With Tom And His Parents): There’s a great scene between Tom and his parents (played by David Paymer and Mimi Kennedy) that literally saves the whole movie from being another typical romantic comedy. In these films, characters tend to magically realize they’re in love with someone, but not here. Tom gets help from his parents. They pull him out of the black hole he’s carved for himself and remind him that Violet is the love of his life. It’s a truly eye-opening moment for him. That scene saves this movie.

The So-So:

Jason Segel and Emily Blunt: Tom and Violet are a lovely couple, but their relationship never reaches a level of passion that makes us believe they’re ridiculously in love with each other. It’s more like they’re really good friends — best friends. The problem is that their characters are too laid back and even when they get into heated arguments it seems like they’re not really fighting, just pretending.

The Bad:

Long Run-Time: Unfortunately, The Five-Year Engagement is about 15-20 minutes too long. There definitely could have been some more tightening up and cutting of the running gags. The movie felt like the energizer bunny, it just kept going and going and going. Good for batteries, bad for movies.

Overall:

The Five-Year Engagement is funny. It’s filled with great TV actors and comedians, and the script is made by two guys who’ve honed their craft. With that said, it’s a little long in the tooth, but still worth watching. This is definitely an Apatow film, and if you’re a fan of his, this is necessary viewing.

Rating: 7.5/10

Interview: Jason Segel and Emily Blunt on ‘The Five-Year Engagement’

Jason Segel and Emily Blunt are together again. The Five-Year Engagement marks their third onscreen collaboration after The Muppets and Gulliver’s Travels. In Judd Apatow‘s latest production, Segel and Blunt play Tom and Violet, a couple that lives through the ups and downs of a very lengthy engagement (hence the title of the film). We recently had the chance to talk to both actors about their characters and what it takes to make a good romantic comedy.

ScreenCrave: Emily, you seem to put your own spin on every character you play. Do you work hard on that?

Emily Blunt: That’s very nice. Thank you for saying that. I find it really hard to talk about approaching stuff. I don’t know how to talk about it actually. I always get very confused. When I read a script, I’ll have a very visceral gut reaction: what does this mean to me? How does she feel in my skin? Could I play this role? I think I know very instantly, but I can’t list why I know. I do try to pick roles that differ. I love that about the job; the variety that’s out there is to be taken advantage of and I enjoy that element of shape-shifting. I love character roles. I’m happier in them. Really I look for roles that have complexity. For this genre, it was a huge draw to work with Jason [Segel] again because we’re friends. The script was really fresh. I though it was a really original take on a relationship. It felt awkward and loving and flawed and messy and everything that love is. It was a very easy thing for me to jump into working with these guys. It felt like a really effortless experience. It was a blast. One of my happiest experiences.

SC: How were your brainstorming sessions?

EB: They tend to do that with every new actor that signs on. They do a complete rewrite simply for that character. I think that’s why every character is very rich and juicy and there’s a lot to play with. They really spend a few weeks doing new rewrites to who has just signed on. When I signed on, they brought me in and we had a big brainstorming session where they asked opinions and perspective on things. I do think this is one of the most personal movies I’ve done because these guys require you to bring a lot of yourself to the process. They want to make the scenarios feel real and that’s based on something you’ve experienced. That’s why I think it feels quiet fresh and not derivative of another romantic comedy.

SC: Jason, did you rewrite the Tom role for yourself when you realized you would play it?

Jason Segel: I have the easiest task when it gets time to actually act. I’ve done five years of writing at that point. I’ve done all the homework that all the actors have to do because I wrote it. I just have to show up and do exactly what I intended to do when I wrote it.

SC: So you intentionally put yourself through that emotional breakdown?

JS: Absolutely. I like to be challenged acting-wise. I like to do things that I’m scared of so I do write scenes that I hope that I’m capable of doing. It’s also the reason why I would take a part that I didn’t write. I like to feel that it’s going to be challenging.

EM: If you’re playing a historical figure you can do research and read books and listen to music and then when you get on set you just have to do it. As much as you can absorb beforehand, everyone has their own process. At the end of the day you just show up and you just have to do it. There are days when you’ve questioned what you’ve done.

SC: Was there any moment in the film you were seriously nervous about?

EM: The breakup scene.

JS: Yeah, the big breakup scene. But to go back to the other question, this may very well be a delusion, but when I walk on set, I think nobody can act this better than I can. I’m not saying that that is true. It’s an athletic mentality. It’s when you walk unto a basketball court, you think, ‘I am about to dominate this game.’ Doesn’t mean you’re right, but that better be what’s going on in your head or you’re about to get killed.

SC: On that note, was there any competition between the two of you?

EB: Be honest. I’m not competitive. I never think about those things.

JS: Okay, I am well aware, as evidenced by the opening of this roundtable that Emily is a more prolific and better actress than I am. [Laughs] I felt very much in my wheelhouse doing the comedy scenes, but when it came time for the breakup scene or the more dramatic scenes, and I come from an athletic background as you can tell, but I would think, ‘I am not going to let her out-actor me.’

EB: He would tell me this once the scene was done and I was like, ‘Jason, I thought that scene was really fun.’ And he was like, ‘You should, I was getting myself all pumped up.’

SC: So were you comfortable with the Chris Pratt scenes where he kind of stole the show?

JS: Part of my strategy is to setup people to be their best. We want everyone to come in a nail it. Ego-wise, I’m very happy to be the straight man in a movie. I’ve played the best friend before and the job of that is to be the person with the huge comedy pop in every scene you do. That’s the job of Chris Pratt’s role and he nails it. He knocks it out of the park.

EB: Chris Pratt is a comedy savant. He’s so spooky good.

JS: That’s the function of that part. And same with the Alison Brie part. They have to come in a kill it every time out story line is starting to bring you down a bit. You want to be able to cut to Chris Pratt or Alison Brie or her study mates – Kevin Hart, Mindy Kaling, Chris Parnell – they’re suppose to lift the script.

SC: Was there any fear that Emily’s character would come off as unlikable?

JS: It’s so funny when you do testing on any movie, people have a lot less leniency for a woman straying from a relationship than they do for men. They feel like they can understand why a man would leave if the woman is bit naggy, but it’s very easy for them to look at a woman and start saying that she’s cold or whatever. She’s human. I write every part as if I might play it whether it’s a man or a woman. People are all the same and I don’t think we should treat those characters differently.

SC: What inspired your transformation into ‘Mountain Man?’

JS: I call it passive aggressive facial hair. It’s a move that I’ve done in relationships. It’s a move that I’ve done when I’m unemployed like when people won’t hire me. I’m like, ‘Well watch this I don’t care either.’ It is a form of defiance.

SC: It’s one of the most disturbing beards I’ve ever seen.

EB: I loved it. I thought it was so cool.

JS: It is. If you saw me, not in a sweater, you would think, ‘He’s right up there with Chris Hemsworth.’ [Laughs]

SC: Was there ever any temptation to keep Tom and Violet apart?

JS: We knew that it was going to end in a weeding, however, seeing the movie, I am incredibly impressed and surprised at how much people think there might not be a wedding. I have always felt like romantic comedies are incredibly predictable, you look at a poster and you know those two are ending up together at the end of the movie.

EB: Even if they’re back to back. [Laughs]

JS: There is a legitimate section in this movie where you’re not sure if they are going to get back together. It was not planned. We really thought everyone would just be waiting for them to get back together, but it’s kind of interesting to see them with other people.

SC: Were you trying really hard to avoid cliches?

JS: Yeah, absolutely. Trying to avoid cliches or also just not defying this movie by a genre. I don’t know that it’s just a strict romantic comedy. I don’t know how you would label a James Brooks movie or how you would label Annie Hall. Is that a romantic comedy? I don’t even know what you call that. That’s what life is like, it’s the tone of life. That’s sort of what we were shooting for.

SC: If you’d written the script earlier, when you didn’t have as much street cred, would it have been difficult to get made?

JS: Yes! There’s no big plot movements. It’s about exploring relationships.

EB: We had one explosion, but it got cut out of the movie. All the movie for the budget went –

JS: At one point we have a talk about money and I can see that I’m broke and she admits that she has a huge amount of money saved in her bank account and I’m like, ‘What the fuck? Why didn’t you tell me this?’ And she feels terrible and she gives me money to open my own restaurant in Michigan, and within two weeks it explodes.

SC: Can you talk about what you have coming up next?

EB: I’m not sure what I’m doing next actually.

JS: I’m going to take my first break. I’ve been churning them out. I think this year I had Muppets, Jeff Who Loves At Home, this movie, and then I’m in Judd’s [Apatow] next movie This Is 40. Plus a full-time TV show [How I Met Your Mother], which sometimes you forget is a full time job.

EB: That’s how I felt last year. I haven’t worked this year yet. I’ve been doing press. I don’t know when I’m going to work.

JS: I was doing a radio interview for Jeff Who Lives At Home and this reporter was like, ‘Well you must be exhausted.’ And I say, ‘Well, why do you say that?’ ‘Well you have four movies coming out over the span of a year and you wrote two of them and you’re doing the TV show.’ And I was like, ‘Yeah, reporter. You’re right! I’m exhausted. You’re right reporter!’

‘Looper’ Gets A Time-Twisted Teaser Trailer

Try saying that headline three times fast. Then wrap your head around Looper’s premise: Mobsters from the future, in an effort to properly dispose of evidence, send their victims 30 years into the past to be executed by hired assassins called ‘Loopers.’ One such Looper is Joe (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), who one day arrives at the job to find himself with tasked with killing his future self (Bruce Willis), which is where the wackiness (including Gordon-Levitt doing his best Willis drawl under some subtle makeup FX) begins.

Looper is directed by Rian Johnson (who previously directed Gordon-Levitt in the excellent high school take on film noir, Brick) and co-stars Emily Blunt, Paul Dano, and Jeff Daniels in what looks to be one of the few high-concept actions films of the summer that is not a franchise, sequel, prequel, side-quel, reboot, remake, TV series adaptation, young adult novel adaptation, comic book adaptation, Michael Bay ripoff (I’m looking at you, Battleship), or 3D film. Kind of refreshing, no?

While only a short teaser, Looper looks to be, like Brick, a revisionist take on an old-school genre (time travelling sci-fi). Also a plus—there appears to be no smirking, paycheck-cashing Bruce Willis coasting that hampered the last few Bruno films. Here’s hoping he doesn’t go all David Addison on us in the full-length trailer.

Nicholas Stoller and Jason Segel are quite the comic duo – at this point they’re making a movie a year together, and are just coming off The Muppets. Their latest is The Five-Year Engagement, and it’s due out April 27, 2012. It’s even more of a reunion as the duo have also made two of their other recent films with Emily Blunt. She shows up in The Muppets, and also appeared with Segel in Gulliver’s Travels. Check out the trailer…

The film also features Community‘s Alison Brie, Parks and Recreation‘s Chris Pratt, The Office‘s Mindy Kahling, and Chris Parnell (Dr. Spaceman from 30 Rock) so basically NBC’s Thursday night line up is repped. Also featured are Rhys Ifans, Brian Posehn, Kevin Hart and David Paymer.

This looks reasonably funny, though much of it may play better in context. The most concerning thing about the movie is the release date: it comes out a week before The Avengers, and often the air gets sucked out of older pictures when blockbuster season hits. Then again last year we saw Fast Five kick off the summer with that date, and Bridesmaids was a May release that is still one of the highest grossing films of the year.

The Adjustment Bureau, AKA a little something for everyone. Much like what I predicted when they released some clips for this film, this is very much a story with a lot of running around, a lot of “I love you, come back!”, and some cool special effects. It’s kind of like the Bourne films mixed with some Romeo and Juliet, with a sprinkle of Inception and a pinch of religion — like I said a little something for everyone. But, the real reason to see this film for more than that, check out why below…

The Plot:

A politician and a modern dancer, fall in love — could it be destiny? But what if someone has decided that destiny isn’t a good enough reason for these two to be together? What if that someone has a different plan and a way to implement it? Will they be willing to risk everything and stay together, or will they be parted forever?

The Good:

The SFX: There are a lot of subtle, almost old school door swapping methods in this film that are a lot of fun. I have no doubt it was all done with CGI, but sometimes simple is better.
Matt Damon and Emily Blunt: Women want him; men want to be him AND men want her; women want to be her… I don’t think you could have found a better and more equal duo. Their chemistry is great, they’re both exceptionally easy to watch, they’re both able to do the action scenes and yet act when necessary — overall if these two are the main reason to see this film.
Blunt’s Dress: I don’t know if that was double stick tape or the best dress ever built, but how the hell did she run in that thing and it her boobs stay in exactly the same place and look that good? Well done dress, you deserve a round of applause.
Supporting Cast: The leads are great, but they’re enhanced by a wonderful supporting cast which includes two of the best looking men in suites: Slattery and Mackie — just a little something extra for the ladies. The rest of the cast is equally impressive and really helps make this a well rounded film.
The Idea: The idea behind what drives the film is actually pretty interesting, the problem is, because it’s so complex they have to over-explain it at times and almost make it too easy to grasp — but that’s not to say that there is nothing to it all!

The Bad:

Not That Complex: There are a couple of fun twists and turns in the story but I really wanted something that would blow be away and make me think. Again, there’s a lot of great ideas, that are at times well pulled off (John Slattery gets some of the best moments), but there just isn’t enough of them to walk away fully satisfied. The biggest problem with this film is that they do a lot of great build up but when it comes time for the ending…
The Ending Feels Like an After Thought: This film was pushed back several months and there were rumors of re-shoots, I don’t know if the ending was the reason why, but it felt like the film actually had another 20-30 minutes and a different ending. Though this one is satisfying enough, something tells me we’re not getting all of what Nolfi had in mind — something about it was just a little too easy.

Overall:

This film is much better than the average action, romance and really goes for everything 100%. There’s enough cool concept and chemistry between the two actors to keep you entertained but at the end of the day it’s not that great of a reveal and there’s nothing mind-blowing about it. It’s a simple, easy to watch action movie with a lot of romance — you can tell this one was screen tested for both sexes.

Rating: 6.5/10

Alison Brie Joins Five Year Engagement With Emily Blunt and Jason Segel

“Community” star Alison Brie continues to make her mark in feature film with a new gig. According to Variety, the actress is joining the cast of the upcoming Nicholas Stoller comedy Five Year Engagement. She’ll star alongside Jason Segel and Emily Blunt, who previously worked together on Gulliver’s Travels.

The title of the film is a dead give away of the premise but if you need further explanation here it is. Five Year Engagement centers on the ups and downs of a couple who’ve been together for a very long time. Segel and Blunt will play the couple, while Brie will star as Blunt’s younger sister. In an interesting twist, the film will mark the first time that Brie will do a British accent on screen.

The actress said, “I’ve worked on accents when I was studying at Cal Arts and in Scotland and enjoy that kind of transformation.” Production is slated to start around April. The screenplay was co-written by Segel and Stoller, who previously penned The Muppets together.

Aside from this, Brie will appear in Scream 4 next month, she has her regular gig on “Community,” and a recurring stint on “Mad Men.” She’s definitely one busy bee.

Clips: The Adjustment Bureau – Lots of Love and Mind Reading

Some new clips from George Nolfi‘s upcoming thriller, The Adjustment Bureau have just been released and have confirmed that Matt Damon’s character is in fact in love. Just to prove it, EVERY scene seems to be about his character being in love, with a bit of mind-reading and world-swapping in the midst of his love story. My fear, too much pining and not enough psychedelic mind-blowing.

The film has an all-star cast led by one of my favorite non-movie stars who happens to be a movie star, Matt Damon whose character is be chasing after the lovely Emily Blunt — who is hot enough that she can throw your phone in a cup of coffee and apparently you just don’t care! I wish I knew what that was like. And then there is the impressive supporting cast Anthony Mackie, John Slaterry (who just can’t seem to get out of his 60′s suit and is always “a professional that fucks with you”), Daniel Dae Kim, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Michael Kelly and Terence Stamp. All of whom are featured in the new clips below…

Interview With Elton John For Gnomeo and Juliet

Trumping The Lion King soundtrack seems like an unrealistic aspiration for Sir. Elton John, composer and executive producer of Kelly Asbury’s animated feature, Gnomeo and Juliet. While effort is most certainly noted, the iconic musician scored the picture with a variety of original tracks as well as some of his legendary jams – and the original tracks we’re not exactly gems to write home about.

Regardless, we were fortunate enough to hit the press conference for this child-proof Shakespeare adaptation and hear Sir. Elton’s two cents on the 11 year extravaganza preceding the picture.

Was original music always the plan for the film?

Sir Elton John: Originally it wasn’t gonna be all my music, but when Disney Studios really got a hold of this project and suggested that we we write new songs for it I thought it was a good idea. I’d never done that before. I enlisted the help of James Newton Howard, a famous arranger in this town, who actually used to be in my band. I had a great relationship with him. And from that point on I really handed it over to James and the rest of the team.

Rumor has it that development took roughly 11 years..

Elton John: You have to write the songs quite a long time ahead, because of story boards and placement. We actually wrote four new songs for the movie and two got left out, the story boards changed, the story evolves, and things get left by the wayside. You have to accept it when you write for a musical or animation movie.

Oddly the fiasco between the “reds” and “blues” echo recent events in American society – which has to be purely coincidental…

Elton John: If 11 years ago we had the foresight to do that I’d say we’re fucking geniuses. It just so happens to be at this time, 3 weeks after the president made a speech in Tuscon, a very poignant moment in the history of America after this tragedy happened. I do feel as though there’s a message in this film. Like, we spend so much time hating each other because our parents tell us that’s what we have to do. I grew up conservative because my mom was a conservative. once I realized what conservatives were I changed my mind immediately.

I think the story line is saying we should all get a long, Catholic, Protestant, Muslim, Jews – Democrats/Republicans. In American it’s gotten so far stretched and the rhetoric is so dangerous and so unnecessary. If there’s any message that can come out of this film, which is purely coincidental and the timing is coincidental, then I’m all for it. Because as I grow older it saddens me to see a country I love so much having such a gulf between people sometimes, they don’t meet in the middle. In the film, at the end of this, when they destroy both gardens they say “this is enough, this is ridiculous.” That sends out a positive message.

With The Lion King and your solo career you’ve always been an advocate of collaboration..

Elton John: With The Lion King it came my way in 1993 thanks to Tim Ryans. I’ve always collaborated in my career as a song writer, I loved the idea and the journey of collaboration with everyone in The Lion King. I’m a team player Really, that’s why I like doing the musicals. I’ve always had song writing partners. Leave your ego at the door – you have to be prepared to say, ‘Ok, I’m gonna fight for this song but if you really wanna get rid of it, that’s fine’.

You’ve gotta listen to the team as a whole. So many times we convened over these 11 years and you have to be a team player…hold hands when things are going badly and hold hands when things are going well. You really have to be there for everybody else on the team. I always liked that in my career I had the good fortunate of having a long standing writing partners that I’ve been with for 4 years. It’s just another way of sharing a joyful experience. .

You did a track with Lady Gaga for the project!

Elton John: She came to the house last year, we do a ball every year to raise money for aids, she stayed at our house for three days and we mentioned the film and the song and she said she’d love to do it. She added so much of her own magic to the song and she gave it a new life. It was a duet and I was looking for someone to sing it with, and she’s one of my new best friends and I love her to death – it was nice that she was so excited to do it. That was a real plus for us.

Gnomeo, Gnomeo where for art thou, Gnomeo? He’s drag racing a lawnmower in your backyard! Emily Blunt, James McAvoy and Michael Cane star in this hoot of an Shakespeare adaptation, Gnomeo & Juliet. The Kelly Asbury directed 3-D picture hits theaters nationwide Friday, January 21st. Check out the review below…

The Plot:

We’re working with an adorably embellished/child-proof rendition of Shakespeare’s Romeo And Juliet. Gnomeo (McAvoy) of the “blues” and Juliet of the “reds” exist in competing backyards among fellow garden gnomes, mushrooms, bunnies, what have you. Battles between lawnmowers, weed-whackers, and miracle grow keep these pint sized statues at odds, until Gnomeo and Juliet meet and sparks fly. You know the rest.

The Good:

Adaptation: We’ve seen our fair share of both impressive and abominable Shakespeare adaptations, but we’ve yet to see one geared towards kids. Asbury re-writes several pivotal story points to better suit her target audience – most notably, no deaths occur. And, let’s be real, unless you’re incredibly stoned or over the age of 13, 3-D gnome duels and suicide sessions don’t make for .
Humor: Again, the film is aimed to please a younger demographic but I’m happy to report that Asbury works in some subtle adult humor – some of it being blatantly sexual, actually. Cheers!
Animation: It’s a visually pleasing picture from the character illustrations to the exotic color palettes to the hysterical “fight” choreography. (Also note the FABULOUS dance number before the closing credits).

The Bad:

Music: It pains me to make any remotely negative comment towards anythin Sir. Elton John has touched, but there’s no way to cushion the truth here: The Music Was Bad. John threw in a measure or two from some of his classic jams (which were obviously awesome) but the original tunes couldn’t have been less catchy. Fail.

Overall:

It’s not easy to hate on a kids movie, but it’s not any easier to shower it with praise. You get what the genre typically delivers.

Rating: 7/10

The cast continues to grow to epic proportions for the new Muppets movie. According to THR, three more actors have joined the film including an English comedian, a starlet, and a Hollywood legend. Ricky Gervais, Emily Blunt, and Mickey Rooney are the latest thespians to sign on for the project that’s already filled to the brim with talent.

According to the trade, the trio of actors will all have bit parts in the film similar to Alan Arkin, Jack Black, Billy Crystal, Zach Galifianakis and Jean-Claude Van Damme’s appearances.

Official Synopsis:

“The Greatest Muppet Movie Ever Made is about Gary, Mary, and Walter (a man, his girlfriend, and the man’s life-long nondescript, brown puppet best friend) getting the old Muppet gang – now retired entertainers known for the same Muppet show we know them from – together to save the TV studio that the original show was shot in. A villain, Tex Richman, bent on drilling for oil underneath the studio, is due to take over the studio in weeks, and the only way to stop him? Putting on a show that draws ten million viewers.”

The film is directed by James Bobin and stars Jason Segel, Amy Adams, Chris Cooper, and Rashida Jones in leading roles.

The Muppets is scheduled to hit theaters on December 25, 2011.

If you want to watch some awesome and refreshing Halloween shows this weekend you should visit iTunes. No, we’re not talking about old TV episodes or movies, we’re referring to new horror shorts that feature some of today’s most popular stars like “Glee’s” Jane Lynch and British actress Emily Blunt. Find out how and what you can watch below…

Shorts International released a special Halloween Shorts collection of over 25 terrifying short movies, available for download on iTunes in the US, Canada, UK and Germany. This celebrity-filled release includes Lynch in Alex’s Halloween, Blunt in Curiosity, and John Simm in Devilwood.

As a special treat, Roar, a Hitchcockian-style thriller, will be available FREE for a limited time in the US and Canada. The film stars Russell Tovey (Being Human, Doctor Who) and Jodie Whittaker (St. Trinian’s), in a chilling tale about a shy key cutter who takes drastic action after a girl rejects his gesture of goodwill.

What is Gnomeo and Juliet? It’s a new animated film from Touchstone that features an all star cast of actors including James McAvoy, Emily Blunt, Michael Caine, Jason Statham, Maggie Smith, Patrick Stewart, Ashley Jensen, Stephen Merchant, Matt Lucas, and even Ozzy Osbourne. Will they be enough to get asses in the seats or will the trailer suffice? Check it out and judge for yourself…

In the film, McAvoy and Blunt are the title characters, who have as many obstacles to overcome as their quasi namesakes when they are caught up in a feud between neighbors. It’s a retelling of the classic Shakespearean play set against the backdrop of your neighbor’s lawn.

Even though there hasn’t been much said about the film the trailer is mildly funny. We’d be lying if we didn’t give them props for some of their gags. The script can’t be that bad if they were able to snag such talented people to star — can it? By the way, did anyone else notice that the young and old versions of Professor Xavier from X-Men are in this movie?
