Dredd Reviews, Interviews & More
The holidays are officially over, and though this week offers mostly also-ran titles, there a couple in here that should be interesting to watch if you skipped them in the theater. Classics-wise, Universal and Criterion are putting out some interesting titles, so it’s a nice week for DVD and Blu-ray.
Jennifer Lawrence in a tank top is enough. Enough to win a weak weekend, at least for right now. The horror movie House at the End of the Street had enough interest to tie with End of Watch, beat back Trouble with the Curve and decimate Dredd. Full numbers ahoy.
The only thing more interesting than talking box office numbers? Talking politics! And today we get the rare overlap of the two with a fictional film. Clint Eastwood stars in (he didn't direct it though, that was Robert Lorenz, who's been Eastwood's Assistant Director for a while now) Trouble with the Curve. Will his speech at the RNC mean there's trouble at the box...
Though the picture comes out September 21, we haven't heard much from Dredd recently. the film stars Karl Urban, Game of Thrones's Lena Headey and Olivia Thirlby in an adaptation of the comic books. The film screeened at Comic-con and we heard mostly positive things, so this new extended TV spot does get us excited.
Comic-Con is officially in full swing, the nerds are out, the streets covered in loving sweat and while ScreenCrave is busy about to start arguing away some very important point about why ____ should have done _____ at the "Master of the Web Panel" with Karl Urban. As a little bonus, we have an semi-exclusive clip debut from Dredd 3D! I guess there are some perks to...
The first full day of Comic-Con 2012 is now officially half-over, and one of the highlights of Day 1 thus far was, as always, the Trailer Park. Located in Hall H, the annual event is a showcase for the newest trailers in the world of film and TV (or, as was the case this year, a previously-released trailer snuck in, but presented for the first time in 3D). Curious as to...
Last week, we announced that ScreenCrave would be taking part in a ticket giveaway to the Comic-Con advanced screening of DREDD 3D. Contestants were asked to whip up a creative answer to this question: who is your favorite character from DREDD's world, and why? Now, we've reached our decision and have selected our five winners.
Comic-Con is almost here and Lionsgate and the Masters of the Web, are starting us off right by giving away tickets to a super exclusive screening of Dredd 3D. Introducing the screening will be none other than the leading man himself, Karl Urban, who is a huge fan of the comic and has vowed to keep on the helmet (something Sylvester Stallone failed to do fifteen years...
The Raid: Redemption: A film in which a law enforcement team invades a tower run by a vicious crime lord. Crime lord orders the tower full of baddies to kill the good guys before they make it to the top. Dredd: A film in which a law enforcement team invades a tower run by a vicious crime lord. While it features no one bellowing “I HAAAM DAAAA LUAAAWWW!” like the 1995 Judge Dredd adaptation starring Sylvester Stallone, the very brief teaser for Dredd does feature 10 seconds of condensed badassery, perquisite dramatic/ slow-motion action sequences, and lots of bulky helmets. Check it out.
Two sneak peaks of the upcoming science fiction films Dredd (that's the Judge Dredd reboot) and the new Riddick sequel (starring Vin Diesel) were released in the form of new promo photos this week. It's something of a treat for fans of sci-fi dystopias featuring brooding and musclebound anti-heros, man-hating prostitutes of the future, and...
Last week it was announced that Olivia Thirlby (from Juno) had joined the cast of the rebooted Judge Dredd movie. She'll star alongside Karl Urban who will play the title character, a role that was previously filled by Sylvester Stallone. Over on the official website for IM Global (one of the studios producing the film), they've listed the...
Well kids, it hurts me to report this, but according to AICN, a Judge Dredd film has been green lit for production. I know, after seeing the 1995 Sylvester Stallone version, I was left wanting more (shifty eyes). They don't specify if this project is a sequel, or a remake of the earlier installment, there's just an official statement saying its a go. You can check it out after the jump, and...
