A couple of the fall’s more interesting movies hit DVD and Blu-ray this week, which means it’s going to be easy to play catch up with some of the films that may have slipped by during their theatrical runs. There are also some good classic titles this week, and a box set of a franchise that just turned twenty five.

It used to be that winning an Emmy was considered sub-Oscar, but now that television is getting to be on similar artistic footing as cinema, it's surprising that winning one still isn't that great an accomplishment. Perhaps it's because of the stodgy and repetitive picks of their academy. Here's the full list of their 2012 nominations :

Having been building award steam since November, it looks like Michel Hazanavicius's The Artist is an unstoppable juggernaut of Oscar-sized proportions. Its latest victory is winning the Producer's Guild Award for best picture, and it should get more than a handful of nominations when the Oscar nominees are announced tomorrow.
