In the words of Boyz II Men it’s so hard to say goodbye to last season. With the premiere of the Showtime series “Dexter” this week, the death of Julie Benz’s character Rita became crystal clear. But don’t feel too bad for her, the actress is still on television just not on cable. Benz stars as the matriarch of a super powered family on the new ABC series “No Ordinary Family.” She recently spoke about the show and the amount of love and affection she’s received from “Dexter” fans since her departure.

If you like movies, this is probably a good weekend to catch up on some old Netflix or flip around Turner Classic Movies because the movie pickings are drastically scarce. How scarce? The most legitimate movie hitting shelves this week stars Miley Cyrus. Yeesh!
On the other hand, we’ve just entered they “Get Ready for Fall TV” portion of the DVD calendar – which means lots of great shows are unleashing seasons on silver discs including “Dexter”, “Cougar Town” and “Friday Night Lights”. So, catch up if you’re behind (though you can probably skip the first couple discs of “Cougar Town”).

We have two new castings to report and they’re for shows that share absolutely nothing in common. One is “Dexter,” the serial killer juggernaut of Showtime that centers on death and mental anguish, while the other is The CW’s “Gossip Girl” a series about pretty people with pretty problems like losing your virginity and infidelity. According to EW, both shows will be pumped with new faces this fall in the form of Chris Vance and Sam Page.

Yesterday, we learned that Julie Benz‘s character Rita would rise from the dead and make an appearance next season and now Julia Stiles is in negotiations to join the series in its fifth year. According to EW, the show’s producers are interested in bringing the actress on for a “top secret” role.
