One of the many press conferences we attended at Comic-Con was for the Book of Eli with Denzel Washington, Gary Oldman, Mila Kunis, and Directors Albert and Allen Hughes. Sadly, it’s very hard when transcribing which brother is which. In fact, even when watching the videos it’s hard to tell which twin is which, unless I look at the signs in front of them. Can’t one of them choose a different facial hair style or something?. I did my best, but some of the below might be swapped. You can also check out videos from The Book of Eli panel or their recently released trailer.

The Book of Eli trailer has just been released and Denzel Washington is back as his bad self. In this film, Washington stars as a post-apocalyptic action hero and the trailer does have an I Am Legend feel to it. Like Will Smith, Washington is a lonely warrior out to save the world. Regardless of the similarities, anything with Washington in it, is worth watching for me, and this trailer might be what you need to want to see Book of Eli.

Hey readers, take the first look at Denzel Washington’s upcoming film Book of Eli. This post-apocalyptic drama stars Washington and Gary Oldman. Both Washington and co-director Albert Hughes had a lot to say about the desolate place that is Albuquerque, their shooting site.
“There’s a reason there’s nothing growing out there,” says Washington. “It’s land no one wants.”

Is this another pointless hostage film? Well, I like hostage films if they’re well made, they’re worth your time. So, what does this one have going for it? It has the amazing cast of Denzel Washington, John Travolta, and my favorite James Gandolfini, lead by Tony Scott, a man that knows his way around an action film. It was written by Brian Helgeland, the man who brought us Mystic River, L.A. Confidential, and many more. So, I think this definitely has a lot of potential for a high-class action film.
The story is about armed men (lead by Travolta) who hijack a subway train in NY and demand of a hefty ransom from a simply civil servant (Denzel Washington). As the authorities (lead by James Gandolfini) try to negotiate the hijackers try to create a plan to get away. Of course, Travolta and Washington bound at develop a unique relationship which I’m sure helps them both through rough times.

The king of conspiracy rumors himself, Tom Cruise, is confirmed to partner with Denzel Washington in MGM‘s The Matarese Circle, a thriller in which the two stars play spies teaming up against a global conspiracy (Sorry folks, not referring to Scientology here, although that would be some truly ironic casting).
David Cronenberg directs this adaptation of the 1979 novel by Robert Ludlum‘s (who also wrote “The Bourne Identity” series) with a purported contemporary twist on the author’s original Cold War setting. Cruise and Washington are cast as two prideful spies who spend decades as archenemies trying to kill each other and ultimately team up against the Matarese, a conspiracy group behind global instability [Variety].
