It looks as if X-Men Origins: Wolverine front man Liev Schreiber will be moonlighting as an action star for a while. According to CinemaBlend, Schreiber is in negotiations to star opposite Angelina Jolie in the spy thriller, Salt. In the film “Angelina plays a CIA officer accused of being a Russian sleeper agent. She must elude capture long enough to prove her innocence.” Schreiber’s character is for lack of a better word “top secret” at the moment, but sources say it’s a major role. Salt will be directed by Phil Noyce and starts principal photography next month in New York City.

Well, have you seen The Reader, Milk, Slumdog Millionaire, Gran Torino and The Wrestler already? All of those definitely should be on top of your list above any of the films this week. BUT! If you’re looking for something “simple” there are a few okay films this week. My Bloody Valentine 3-D is supposed to be a fun-filled horror ride. Notorious is definitely the best film in terms of quality that is being released this week. And you can’t help but sing “No-No-No-Notorious” whenever you see the poster, can you? The rest of the films are good for plane flights.
Here are this weeks movie releases…

Not long ago we posted the short version of this interview where Liev talked about his upcoming role in Wolverine. Now we have the long version for you where Liev has a chance to talk about the history and the complexity behind his role in Defiance. Although Defiance is lacking in many areas, when it comes to acting, the film is phenomenal and much of that can be attributed to Liev’s stellar performance alongside Daniel Craig and Jamie Bell.
It was such a pleasure to speak with Liev. If not only for his amazingly deep and steady voice, but also because he’s an amazing story teller. You can tell that he’s an intellectual and yet he’s definitely not afraid to get down in the dirt and have some fun.
He had some amazing insights about his soon to be wide-released film Defiance, as well as his upcoming film Wolverine and much more. Check it out below…

Many of us remember Jamie Bell from his amazing performance as Billy Elliot. The man can sing, dance, and now he shows us he can shoot a Nazi. In his upcoming role in Edward Zwick‘s new WWII film, Defiance, about the Bielski Brothers, Bell shares the screen with Daniel Craig (interview here) and Liev Schrieber. Although his character does not stand toe to toe with the other actors, he as an actor certainly does. Bell gives an honest performance, one which I think many people will be able to relate to, because he is the every man’s hero.
We were lucky enough to chat with Bell about preparing for his role in Defiance, having Craig teach him how to look good with a gun, some of the big problems A-list actors are having getting jobs, and more.

Over the weekend ScreenCrave had the opportunity to sit down and talk with Daniel Craig about his upcoming role in Edward Zwick’s film Defiance. Craig has obviously received a lot of recognition for his role as James Bond, but he seems more than willing to leave that all behind for a nice vacation.
Craig is in the midst of his 15 Super-God-Like minutes of fame. He was a well established actor before this and hopefully will be for some time, but it’s always odd interviewing someone in their peak of fame (notice how I don’t say success) and the reason is, they really don’t want to talk about it and Craig was no different. You could tell he was eager to help promote his film Defiance and when Bond was discussed he didn’t skirt the issue but answered it in a very honest and at times sarcastic or jovel way. You could tell from talking to him that even with his success he has not turned into a “star” but a well received hard working actor. The man is dedicated to his work and everything that comes with it.
I gained a lot of respect for him through this interview. The important thing to realize about Craig is that he is an amazing actor, he’s been involved with so many amazing films and really all he wants to do is get back to making them. He is happy to help promote, but his real talent lies in the work, not in his ability to talk about it.
So without further ado, let’s hear what he has to say…

Let’s face it. These films are both selling the same things. Big stars. Big directors. Nazi Germany. One is about Jews rebelling against the Nazis, the other is about a German rebelling against the Nazis. The two films come out within two weeks of one another. It’s obvious that these two films are competing for the same audience.
Which film are you more excited to see based on the trailer?
