There hasn’t been a lot of movement on the Deadpool spin-off thanks to Ryan Reynold’s decision to concentrate on The Green Lantern. But that’s OK because the film needs time to develop its creative team and nail down a decent script. According to a recent post on Chud, the duo behind the comedy hit, Zombieland may be on board to give Wade Wilson his voice.

X-Men producer Lauren Shuler Donner has been with the film franchise since its debut back in 2000, and Empire was lucky enough to land an interview with her to get the scoop on the future of the pending X-Men spin-offs. According to her, it seems like their focus is geared more towards the next Wolverine, and it will be a while before any of the others (Deadpool, X-Men: First Class, or Magneto) see production.
See what she had to say…

Rob Liefeld is the creator of the Marvel character Deadpool, so it’s only right that he’d give us the latest news on the live action film. Via his Twitter account, he recently gave some updates on the film’s status and revealed whether or not Ryan Reynolds is still attached to star. Liefeld attended a meeting with several major X-Men producers including the ever vocal, Lauren Shuler Donner, so this had to be a big deal. If his tweets are legit, not only will Deadpool be an amazing spin-off, but Cable may get a solo deal too.

Twentieth Century Fox and I have been engaged in an abusive relationship for 10 years and just when I think I’m done with them they pull me back in. Exhibit A being the abomination that was this summer’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine. So many characters were done wrong in so little time, so when they confirmed that a Deadpool spin-off was in the works I was conflicted. Over at Empire, the character’s portrayer Ryan Reynolds has put out news that his solo effort will stay true to the comic that fans have come to know and love.
Read what he had to say after the jump.

I used to think Superman was the only one faster than speeding bullet, but apparently I was wrong. Twentieth Century Fox has wasted no time setting up another X-Men film for development. If your suffering from Wolverine overload there’s a method to the madness. As the first official installment of the X-Men Origins series the box office success of this film is crucial. After the release of X3: The Last Stand in 2006, two spin-off properties were fast tracked for development, Wolverine and Magneto. At first the two projects were running neck in neck in terms of production, but Wolverine eventually won the race. With it’s release date only a few weeks away talk has surfaced regarding who will be the next character in line to carry on the X-Men title. At first glance you might think it would rebound back to Magneto, but there’s another red shrouded mutant in waiting and his name is Deadpool.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine is right around the corner now. Only a few weeks to go and MTV has just premiered 5 new 30 second character profiles for Wolverine (Hugh Jackman), Sabretooth (Liev Schreiber), Gambit (Taylor Kitsch), Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds), and Wraith (Will.i.am).
My favorite is Deadpool, because I like characters who are sarcastic and completely crazy. You can definitely see why they were/are considering giving him his own film. He’s an extremely interesting character to watch and Ryan Reynolds is perfect for the part.
Check out the videos below and let us know which one is your favorite!

A new 60 second TV spot has been released for X-Men Origins: Wolverine. This one is set up a little differently than the previous promos we’ve seen. Instead of giving us a glimpse of the film’s storyline, it just tells us what major characters will be featured. Whether or not I agree with the who’s who in this video is up for debate. I don’t want to spoil too much for you, so if you want to check out the video it’s available after the jump.
