Here are some of the top stories that you may have missed over the weekend……
Charlie’s Angel’s 3 is on it’s way! Co-star and producer Drew Barrymore is trying to get a third installment of the Charlie’s Angel’s franchise off the ground. Barrymore stated,”I’m so into it, they’re hard movies to make, but they’re fun.”[E! Online]
Dakota Fanning has confirmed her interest in the Twilight sequel New Moon. We reported earlier that there were rumors that the actress auditioned for the part of a vampire named Jane. Fanning herself has stated that she hopes the role works out, because she’s a huge fan. [Shocktillyoudrop]
The Green Hornet may be dead in the water. According to close sources, ever since the departure of Stephen Chow as director, the Hornet project has been on shaky ground. It’s said to be “highly unlikely” that the film will even shoot this year. [ComingSoon]
Maybe the whole mad cow thing is making a comeback across the pond. Otherwise, I’m not sure how to explain it. A fluffy, Splenda sweet musical did what James Bond, the Dark Knight or ANY OTHER MOVIE has not been able to do. In 22 weeks, Mamma Mia grossed 69.1 million pounds topping Titanic‘s take by 100,000 pounds…and it’s still playing there. That’s without taking inflation into account it, but still!

Well, here comes some more awards for The Dark Knight. According to Variety, The Austin Film Critics Association has named The Dark Knight best picture and Heath Ledger as the best supporting actor. And that’s not all. The film earned five awards, including best director for Christopher Nolan, best adapted screenplay by Jonthan Nolan & Christopher Nolan, and best original score by James Newton Howard and Hans Zimmerman.
Other awards went to Sean Penn for Milk, Anne Hathaway for Rachel Getting Married, Taraji P. Henson for The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, and even Danny McBride for his work in Pineapple Express, The Foot Fist Way and Tropic Thunder. Who knew Austin was so opened minded!
Although it seems to me for many of the categories they went for the most popular and not necessarily the “best.” What do you think?

There’s only one DVD release this week that matters and it’s this one, right?Right?I mean, this is the only DVD release that matters for the rest of the year. For the rest of the decade. For the rest of time. This is the greatest movie ever made.If you didn’t see it fifteen times in the theater you deserve to be tarred and feathered. If you didn’t dress like The Joker for Halloween, there’s something wrong with you.Hell, if you even watched another movie in the theater this year you were wasting your time. Why would you see something else when you could be seeing this impossibly perfect epic one more time? You’re a fool.Yes, I’m talking to you.The person who didn’t go to the midnight show. The person who didn’t see it three-dozen times. The person who hasn’t thought about this DVD release every day for the last few months.
Due to the strong demand for MORE Dark Knight, Warner Bros. Pictures is bringing back the film in theatres and IMAX nationwide. It was announced today by Dan Fellman, Warner Bros. Pictures President of Domestic Distribution that the film will be available to audiences again on January 23, 2009. Fellman stated, “‘The Dark Knight’ is a crowning achievement in every sense of the word. We wanted to provide one more opportunity for moviegoers to experience it on the big screen as it was meant to be seen.”
I’m sure this has something to do with their bid for Academy Award nominations, but who cares, you get to collect on the spoils by getting another chance to see the film on the big screen. Continue Reading
