We have quite the coverage this week. We literally have interviews and reviews for every movie coming out from Roland Emmerich’s 2012 to Women in Trouble. Then there is the more family friendly, but still fun for the adults, Fantastic Mr. Fox by Wes Anderson. Pirate Radio is the a comedy with an all-star cast about the radio stations in the 60′s that set up shop off the British coast. There are quite a couple of indie movies coming out this week, but they’re definitely worth checking to see if they are playing near you.

It’s time for director Adam Salky and writer David Brind film debut, Dare starring Emmy Rossum and Zach Gilford. The film casts a fresh light on the typical high school drama by exposing a new side of stereotypical high school figures. Much in the spirit of The Breakfast Club (only not as classic) the hot guy, awkward gay kid who hasn’t discovered his sexuality, and the over-achieving drama girl all have something in common!

I recently had the opportunity to interview director, Adam Salky and writer David Brind, to talk about the release of their upcoming film Dare. A feature that’s actually based on a short the two worked on while in the graduate film program at Columbia University. Dare centers on three very different teenagers who form an unlikely friendship as they learn more about themselves and their sexuality.
It may sound like your typical high school-genre movie with the jock, the nerd, and the social reject, but it’s much more than that. The writer and director filled us in on the real life drama that happened behind the scenes while making the movie, the logic behind their casting choices, and revealed some of their upcoming projects.

If you’re in the mood for a coming of age film that makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside, Dare isn’t the movie for you. Definitely not a film for the Disney crowd, Dare is a dark comedy by director Adam Salky that takes on some of the most taboo subject matter centering on teens. The film stars Emmy Rossum, Zach Gilford, and Ashley Springer as a threesome (in more ways than one) who engage in risky activity, while dealing with the pressures of adolescence.
