A few weeks ago we told you about Robert Downey Jr.’s decision to leave the upcoming sci-fi Western Cowboys & Aliens, and shortly after his exit, rumors sprang up that Bond star Daniel Craig was in negotiations to take over his role. According to Deadline Hollywood Daily, it’s no longer a speculation, but fact as Craig has signed a deal to star in the Dreamworks, Universal production.
One whole day after news broke that Robert Downey Jr. would no longer be starring in the Jon Favreau film, Cowboys & Aliens, someone’s already ready to take his spot. It’s not official, but there is a well known actor in the running to take on the lead in the film, and his name is Craig, Daniel Craig according to a report from Collider.
Even though MGM has been facing a boatload of problems as of late, their prized James Bond property is still afloat. Rumors have been circulating that the longstanding series would be sold off to another studio, because MGM could no longer afford to produce the films. Yet, according to a video brought to our attention by CommanderBond, the franchises’ star Daniel Craig announced that the new film will start shooting next year.
The director of the Cormac McCarthy novel adaptation The Road, has already got two major projects waiting in the wings. According to Variety, John Hillcoat and screenwriter Joe Penhall are looking to adapt the Gallic heist film, La bonne année. The film centers on a recently released ex-con, and their looking for Bond, James Bond to star as the lead.
James Bond portrayer Daniel Craig has made a psychological thriller his next film. According to Variety, the actor has been confirmed to star in the Morgan Creek production, Dream House. This is obviously an ironic title that contrasts with the horrific storyline that accompanies the movie.

An official promo image has surfaced of Hugh Jackman and Daniel Craig in the play A Steady Rain. The two actors are signed on to star in the Broadway production, opposite one another this fall. If you think alone they’re good looking, try to contain yourself when their both doing the infamous “Blue Steel” stare into the camera. Don’t take my word for it, view the photo below.
Daniel Craig is trying to show the world that he can do more than just fire a gun and chase around the pretty Bond girl. In his next movie role, he will have to keep his shirt on in Jim Sheridan’s psychological thriller titled Dream House. Although, no final deal has been made at this time. Sheridan known for diverse movies such as In the Name of The Father, In America, The Boxer, and Get Rich Or Die Tryin’ (OK, this last one was an example of a bad movie he made) is a master story teller.
What does Wolverine and 007 have in common, other than wildly successful action movies? They are both headed to Broadway! Hugh Jackman and Daniel Craig are to star in A Steady Rain later this fall. The play is about two cops who have their world turned upside down from a case. Both of these actors are fairly comfortable with being on stage; Hugh Jackman won a Tony for his role in The Boy from Oz, and Craig has previously starred in plays.
Over the weekend ScreenCrave had the opportunity to sit down and talk with Daniel Craig about his upcoming role in Edward Zwick’s film Defiance. Craig has obviously received a lot of recognition for his role as James Bond, but he seems more than willing to leave that all behind for a nice vacation.
Craig is in the midst of his 15 Super-God-Like minutes of fame. He was a well established actor before this and hopefully will be for some time, but it’s always odd interviewing someone in their peak of fame (notice how I don’t say success) and the reason is, they really don’t want to talk about it and Craig was no different. You could tell he was eager to help promote his film Defiance and when Bond was discussed he didn’t skirt the issue but answered it in a very honest and at times sarcastic or jovel way. You could tell from talking to him that even with his success he has not turned into a “star” but a well received hard working actor. The man is dedicated to his work and everything that comes with it.
I gained a lot of respect for him through this interview. The important thing to realize about Craig is that he is an amazing actor, he’s been involved with so many amazing films and really all he wants to do is get back to making them. He is happy to help promote, but his real talent lies in the work, not in his ability to talk about it.
