On the surface, Fright Night has a number of strikes going against it. It’s a remake. It’s in 3-D. The original is loved by fans and unknown to the general public – meaning that its name brand value is low, and those who love the original are probably going to be annoyed. but to make it they assembled a great cast (including Colin Farrell and Anton Yelchin), and they had a good starting point. It would be nice to say that the film overcomes those obstacles, but – though there are some nice touches here and there – it doesn’t work. Check out our review….

The Fright Night remake is due August 19, and the first official images from the film are now online. The film stars Anton Yelchin as Charlie Brewster, who has a vampire (Colin Farrell) move in next door. The Craig Gillespie-directed remake tones down some of the sexual subtext of the original, which is part of the reason why the film still plays well, but the new spin on the material has yet to be revealed. The film also stars Christopher Mintz-Plasse and Imogen Poots. Check out the stills…

Have you been following the drama surrounding the feature adaptation of Pride and and Prejudice and Zombies? If not, allow us to get you up to speed. The film was originally set up as a director’s vehicle for David O. Russell, but he dropped out to take on another movie. Next, Mike White was tapped to helm the film, but he had to exit because of a scheduling conflict with another project, and now we’re hoping the third time is a charm because Craig Gillespie (Lars and the Real Girl) is the latest director to be attached to the film.

Anton Yelchin won’t be satisfied until he’s starred in every cult favorite and commercially successful series ever created. The young actor already has Star Trek and Terminator Salvation under his belt and now he’s ready to tackle a property in the horror genre. Yelchin is currently in talks to star as the lead in the remake of the 1985 vampire flick, Fright Night.
