Oscar winning director James Cameron might move from the seas of Pandora to the pyramids of ancient Egypt with his next project. According to Deadline, there’s a tantalizing possibility that the director might take on the upcoming film adaptation Cleopatra, which is based on the book by Stacy Schiff entitled Cleopatra: A Life. If that wasn’t interesting enough, Angelina Jolie is attached to play the title role.

This weekend Angelina Jolie will turn into the female version of Jason Bourne for her new film Salt. The movie that was originally a vehicle for Tom Cruise is a far cry from the Oscar winning actress’s next project. Jolie is set to star in the latest biopic centering on the Egyptian queen Cleopatra. News first broke regarding her involvement with the project in early June and while out promoting Salt, she’s adding more fuel to the fire.

There are a few roles that most Hollywood actresses would kill to get and Cleopatra is one of them. The Egyptian queen has been the subject of many books, plays, and films including the infamous Elizabeth Taylor version, and she’s headed back to the big screen. According to USA Today, the rights to the upcoming biography, Cleopatra: A Life have been bought by film producer Scott Rudin with Angelina Jolie as the front runner to play the queen.

Our favorite Aussie Hugh Jackman, is a busy man! With his highly anticipated Wolverine prequel set for release in May, and his new Oscar hosting gig set for February, he’s got a lot on his plate. E! Online is reporting that everyone’s favorite sultry cat eyed beauty Catherine Zeta-Jones, 39 is up for the role of Cleopatra in the Steven Soderberg remake of a movie of the same name. She won an Oscar for her role as Velma Kelly in “Chicago” so there is no uncertainty about her qualifications for starring in a musical or, according to E-Online, “a 3-D live-action, rock-musical extravaganza”.
