One of my top five picks of this years Sundance film festival (read review) and the winner of the 2011 Sundance Audience Award, Circumstance is finally working its way into theaters.

The film has a unique look at at the normally unseen world of a lesbian couple trying to find their way to be together in modern day Iran. Unlike what you may expect, the film is filled with color, life, music, sex, drugs and most importantly, the desire to express ones self. There is so much life and potential for freedom — until suddenly it’s all taken away. Watch the trailer now…

There were a number of films at Sundance that took on the subject of homosexuality and the un-accepting nature of the societies around them. For me, Circumstance was the most successful of the bunch. Maybe because the stakes felt the highest, maybe because of the expert craftsmanship that went into creating and executing the project, or perhaps it has something to do with the locations in which it was shot — but one thing is for sure, this is a great film that deserves to be acknowledged…
