For those of you who don’t know the story it’s about a man named Doctor Parnassus (Christopher Plummer) who leads a traveling theatre troupe who literally transport audiences into a realm of strange wonders. But he risks losing the soul of his daughter in a bet with the devil that newcomer Tony (Heath Ledger, Johnny Depp, Jude Law, Colin Farrell) might help or hinder.

Over an Empire, they’ve got an exclusive first look at the official poster for The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus. Like many of you, this film has been on my radar for a very long time. It hits theaters domestically this Christmas, and features the final performance of Heath Ledger. The poster highlights all four actors who carry the lead role of Tony the carnie, as played by Ledger, Johnny Depp, Jude Law, and Colin Farrell.

The Scott Stewart adaptation Priest, has been filming in the Los Angles area for the past few weeks. With production underway, they’re still in the midst of making casting deals. Stewart announced on his official Twitter page that Christopher Plummer and Brad Dourif have joined the ever growing cast of the film, but that’s not all. It also broke that actress Madchen Amick also signed on to co-star. Three actors in one day, such a coup for the director.

The Terry Gilliam film, The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus won’t hit theaters until three months down the line on December 25th. The film features Heath Ledger’s last performance, has been a hot topic ever since the actor’s unfortunate passing. Since the film has acquired domestic distribution, steady promotion of Parnassus has been under way. A huge batch of production photos from the film have just debuted online and we’re going to show them to you.

Some behind the scenes video has been posted from Terry Gilliam’s The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus. The film has yet to be released, but is mostly noted for featuring Heath Ledger’s final performance. The following footage includes appearances by stars Lily Cole, Tom Waits, and Andrew Garfield. You can also see an unrecognizable Christopher Plummer as the title character Doctor Parnassus. He makes an appearance at the 1:31 minute mark.

More photos have surfaced from Heath Ledger’s final film, The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus. Over at FirstShowing, I found eight production stills from the movie which include Ledger, Lily Cole, Christopher Plummer, Verne Troyer, and Tom Waits. The story centers on the mystical Doctor Parnassus and his troupe of carnies who travel from location to location. He inspires and provokes people to use thier imaginations to their fullest potential, with the help of a magical mirror which allows them to travel through time and space.

The final film of the late Oscar winner Heath Ledger, The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus has had an uphill battle in terms of production and distribution. The fantastical and complex story paired with the unfortunate passing of it’s lead actor posed more than enough problems for director Terry Gilliam. The film was somewhat rescued by Johnny Depp, Jude Law, and Colin Farrell when they decided to step in for Ledger in the role of Tony. Even though it’s future is uncertain, the film is still being promoted and will make it’s debut at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. I’ve scored several production photos from Parnassus that feature co-stars Christopher Plummer and actress Lily Cole.

This movie seems to be completely cloaked in mystery. So here are a few stills to shed some light on it. Though we still only know the basic out line of the story, this gives us a better idea of what Director Terry Gilliam has in mind visually. This cast looks simply amazing in this theatrical/cabaret garb. Not only are we presented with four A-list actors to portray one fellow (i.e. Heath Ledger, Johnny Depp, Colin Farrell, and Jude Law as “Tony”), but we also have some bad-ass actors in supporting roles.

For example, Tom Waits (musical genius) is the perfect man to play the devilish character of Mr. Nick. Who else can speak with a voice made of smoke? And veteran film actor Christopher Plummer as the elder Dr. Parnassus! Being that this was Heath Ledger’s last film, I’m sure tons of people will be lining up to see it; that aside, these photos have sparked an increased interest for me.

This looks really amazing. It’s got an dark and mysterious vibe mixed in with a modern post-apocalyptic animation. It has voices by Jennifer Connelly, John C. Reilly, Elijah Wood, Crispin Glover, Christopher Plummer, Martin Landau, and more. It has been executive produced by Wanted Director Timur Bekmambetov and produced by Sweeney Todd Director Tim Burton. I guess that’s there that vibe comes from.
