If director Clint Eastwood’s movie Changeling nabs an Oscars this year, it will only be for Best Costume Design or Best Period Drama That Never Really Grabs Your Attention. Based on a true story, Changeling follows The 1928 kidnapping of Walter Collins. A case full of Police corruption and a mother’s struggle to learn the truth about her son’s disappearance.
Before becoming all preachy and giving you the movie’s inevitable shortcomings, I thought it best to start with the positive. Veteran Cinematographer Tom Stern re-teams with Eastwood to create what is arguably one the best looking period Drama’s since Road to Perdition. Everything from Cereal boxes and telephones, to authentic furniture and Ford Model T automobiles are clearly on display to do their very best at transporting us back to the late 1920′s. The film’s score (also created be Eastwood) is both simplistically beautiful and poignant, only revealing itself in moments of high drama and the end credits. While these characteristics combined with award winning actors should carry the film to triumph, sadly they don’t.

Vampires are so hot right now (hehe), and this week is no exception. Let the Right One In, Changeling, and Peur(s) du noir all come to theaters this week. Let the Right One In, is one of the most talked about, well received horror-vampire films of the year. I highly recommend it even to the those who are squeamish, it’s a brillantly executed film. Changeling, the new Clint Eastwood film is receiving mixed reviews, but overall has an amazing cast, amazing director, and a gripping story. Peur(s) du noir, or Fear(s) of the Dark, is a creepy film that digs at your deepest fears and was made by six of the worlds best animators. Looks like what would happen if Tim Burton and Guillermo del Toro had an animation child. And there are plenty more to choose from if that’s not your thing!
Here are this weeks movie releases with cast and crew information, reviews, interviews, showtimes and tickets, and trailers! Enjoy!

Angelina Jolie is a busy woman. Not only will she be taking Tom Cruise’s role in SALT but now they’re reworking the role that was originally written for a man because, hey, she’s Angelina Jolie. She’ll start shooting that in 2009, and we’ll keep you updated until them.
For now we can check out her new poster for Clint Eastwood’s latest film CHANGELING starring Jolie and Malkovich. CHANGELING looks like a role made for Angelina. It’s the story of a mother who had her son kidnapped and then allegedly brought back to her. The problem is, they brought her the wrong kid, and when she tried to tell them they lock her away in a mental institution. She’s a mother, she’s fighting people for what’s right, and people think she’s crazy, it’s perfect. If there’s one thing we know about Jolie from GIA and GIRL, INTERUPTED she knows how to tackle strong female roles.
