Catherine Hardwicke please stop! I gave you Thirteen, I even thought Lords of Dogtown was decent, but Little Red Riding Hood and 21 Jump Street? Stop the overall madness people. According to THR, Hardwicke is in negotiations to direct both films. Two properties that are important parts of my childhood could possibly end up in her hands. More on the story below.

As we reported earlier Catherine Hardwicke may have been ousted from the Twilight franchise, but she’s got plenty of work to keep her busy. First we mentioned her adaptation of the comic book Maximum Ride, and now she’s prepping for a Shakespearean turn. Not only is she going “old English,” but she’s going for the epitome of the author’s work, Hamlet. According to Variety, Emile Hirsch will star as the lead in a Hardwicke directed adaptation of the literary masterpiece.

hardwicke Catherine Hardwicke to Direct Maximum Ride

Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke isn’t feeling depressed about being ousted from the vampire film’s trilogy, because she’s already got a new gig! According to THR, Hardwicke is nearing a deal to direct Maximum Ride, an adaptation of the fantasy book series of the same name. John Patterson created the sci-fi series back in April of 2005, which is currently still in print. The film’s screenplay is being written by Don Payne, who wrote the script for Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer. His involvement doesn’t impress me much, but I’ll keep an open mind.

twilight Poll: Who Should Direct Twilights Eclipse?

Who will direct the final installment in the Twilight saga, Eclipse? As we reported earlier Spanish director Juan Antonio Bayona has become one of the front runners to helm the third film along with James Mangold and Drew Barrymore. Depending on each person’s interpretation of the book  the film can be a definite hit or miss. I’m personally going for Bayona. I think he would have a fresh perspective on the story and end the series on a high note. Mangold is a talented man in his own right, but I don’t know if he would put his all into a teen novel adaptation. Barrymore is young and I’m all for her making the transition to director, but I don’t think this is the film for her to do it.

Take our official poll and tell us what you think…

“Twilight” had fans lining up the night of its release around the country, and just like with any popular release, Summit Entertainment has jumped on the movie and is planning a sequel, titled “New Moon” due out on November 20th, 2009.  Some details about the release have come out over at Entertainment Weekly’s Hollywood Insider, stating that any director that has taken the role (rumored to be Chris Weitz), replacing Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke, had to be in Vancouver this week to start 12 weeks of preproduction.

Reports have speculated that Hardwicke was fired for being difficult on set, but sources close to her suggest Summit’s aggressive production schedule turned her off. “She’d love to do the sequel if she could do it better than Twilight,” says one. “It became clear that Summit didn’t have those same priorities.”
