The ensemble cast for the English language adaptation From Prada to Nada has been announced, and it’s filled with a who’s who of Latin American actors. The film will be a collaboration between Lionsgate, Videocine and Odd Entertainment, that will add a Latina twist to the classic Jane Austen novel, Sense and Sensibility.

The cast for From Prada to Nada will include, Adriana Barraza (Babel, Drag Me to Hell, Amores Perros), Camilla Belle (When A Stranger Calls), Alexa Vega (Spy Kids), Wilmer Valderrama (That 70′s Show) and Kuno Becker. The film will be directed by Fina Torres, who previously helmed Woman on Top. She also co-wrote the script with Luis Alfaro.

Here’s the brief synopsis of this take on the famous story.

From Prada to Nada follows two spoiled sisters when they are left penniless after the sudden death of their father. Forced to move in with their estranged aunt in East Los Angeles, this is a fish-out-of-water story where the girls ultimately find romance, as well as a love for their culture.

I have to admit that I’m happy to see Wilmer Valderrama getting some type of work these days. Seriously, what happened to his career?

It’s that time again. It’s time for another Biblical film to be produced. It’s only been a week since I brought you the news about Samson and Delilah’s  return to the big screen, and now it’s time for another. Jonathan Rhys Meyers (From Paris With Love, The Tudors) is set to co-star with Push alumni Camilla Belle in Mary, Mother of Christ. According to THR, Belle will play the title role, while Meyers will perform double duty as both Gabriel and Satan.

Since the story of Jesus and his birth has been told over and over again, the producing studio wants us to know that their take on the nativity will be different.

Although New Line recently told the story of Jesus’ birth in “The Nativity Story,” released in December 2006, to modest boxoffice returns, Aloe said of her project: “This is not a Christmas movie. This is a part of Mary’s life that has never been shown on the big screen before. It takes us through Mary’s youth, young love, her life as a new mother and the triumph through the absolute terror of Herod the Great’s reign. It is truly a story of real female empowerment.”

To add a more epic feel to the film, Academy Award nominated actor Peter O’Toole (Lawrence of Arabia) will also star in the film as Symeon. Casting directors are reaching out to Oscar winners Al Pacino and Jessica Lange to star as King Herod and Anna the Prophetess.

The film will be produced my Mary Aloe and Rodrigo Berlanga, and directed by Alejandro Agresti (The Lake House). Mary, Mother of Christ is set for release next year.

Is it just me, or does it look like these two are about to get it on in the interview? There was definitely something going on that I didn’t know about.

The interview started out with me being announced as someone from French television and Djimon trying to speak to me in French. I don’t speak French. And I think for some reason he was offended by that. I mean, I never said I spoke French! Give a girl a break!

Oh well. I promised I would study up for next time, so I gotta hit the books. Enjoy the interview below…

Coming in February 2009, is Paul McGuigan’s new film Push, an action packed thriller about people with secret powers hiding from the government. The trailer kind of looks like an expensive two hour “Heroes” episode to me at this point. The film stars Chris Evans, Dakota Fanning (in a mini skirt and hooker boats, which should NOT be happening, especially since she still looks about 11 year-old), Camilla Belle, and Djimon Hounsou.

Official synopsis: Push burrows deep into the deadly world of psychic espionage where artificially enhanced paranormal operatives have the ability to move objects with their minds, see the future, create new realities and kill without ever touching their victims. Against this setting, a young man and a teenage girl take on a clandestine agency in a race against time that will determine the future of civilization.
