The wait is over, Larry Charles‘ Brüno hits theaters today and based on reviews so far, Sacha Baron Cohen is not going to disappoint. Get ready to laugh out loud at the outrageous and sometimes plain stupid things. If high school romantic comedy is more your style, then you are in luck, Chris Columbus’ film I Love You, Beth Cooper starring Hayden Panettierre and Paul Rust is out this week also.
My favorite this week would have to be the story of the girl who gets dumped and freaks out on-air while doing the weather broadcast in Blayne Weaver’s Weather Girl. The plot might not be much but Tricia O’Kelley really sells her character, as the heartbroken/lost/confused weather girl to the audience.
Here are the movies coming out July 10th:

You’ve seen the poster, the dramatic premiere entrances, the photos, the red band trailer, him falling on Eminem’s face and all too much of Sacha Baron Cohen’s ass, now it’s time for the real deal. It’s time for Brüno. Here is what you need to know:
- Is this movie offensive, YES.
- Is it jaw-droppingly hilarious, YES.
- Does he use the same plot as in Borat, YES.
- Are his gags getting old, NO.
Just like the first time when you saw Borat, you will be in complete and utter dismay at what you see in front of you. It doesn’t feel re-hashed, it delivers everything you could want from an offensive comedy.
Now it’s time for the good, the bad and the plot… Continue Reading

MTV is calling this “The Greatest Photo Ever” and they’re not wrong. You’ve got Zooland (Ben Stiller), Dirty Harry (Clint Eastwood), and probably one of the most successful comedy director/producers in the past decade Judd Apatow, all huddled around the biggest star-f*cker of all time Bruno.
Also, where is Eastwood’s left hand? It almost looks like he might be grabbing him some Bruno tush. Boy oh boy would that make my day… and Bruno.

We all know that when Sacha Baron Cohen gets into character as one of his infamous alter ego’s he takes it very seriously. So, when I stumbled across an LATimes article highlighting his red carpet antics as fashion icon, Bruno I knew I had to add my two cents. Never afraid to push the limits Bruno treads the line of inappropriate and insanity with European ease. Follow me as I take a look at some of his most outrageous outfits, and try to find the hidden message behind them all!

What do Michael Jackson and the movie, Brüno, have in common? Well, Brüno premiered in LA on the same day the legendary pop star passed away, and there happened to be a few Jackson-related jokes in the film. In response to Jackson’s untimely death, the executives at Universal quickly decided to delete the scene from the premiere out of respect to the family. The director of Brüno, Larry Charles, stated last night, “We decided to take it out for tonight and we’ll reassess before the release whether to keep it out.” Continue Reading

Bruno is in Hollywood at this very moment! The Australian gay star made his grand-red carpet entrance at the Chinese Theater this evening at 7:09 p.m, in an army vehicle decorate with a lot of glitter and lights. Bruno was sitting on top of howitzer as if he were riding on a horse, wearing very little clothes; a green sleeveless, soldier shirt with badges and chains and tiny green shorts. Bruno was surrounded by plenty of sexy women also in skimpy shorts, and armored with rifles, while Bruno also picked up an arm of his own; a bazooka covered in gold. While he was still a top of the mock-like military vehicle, Bruno waved and blew kisses at his fans who were eagerly waiting since before 6:45.

There is a very fine line between satire and just being plain ol’ offensive. We all know that Sacha Baron Cohen loves to walk that line and will be doing so in Bruno. But, is this the right time to be possibly offending a community that is already having to fight for their rights? It has recently been reported by TheWrap that the film may be having to go through a series of re-shoots and editing in order to make the film more gay friendly. But in doing so, they may destroy some of the satire-power that the film has, which could help the cause.
Even though I have yet to see the film, there is no doubt in my mind that Bruno’s antics will not only shed light, but aggressively mock and tear apart homophobia. Yet, if certain audiences don’t understand that the film is a satire they might end up supporting the wrong cause. Part of me wants to say “f*ck the people who don’t get it” but the other side of me thinks that we can’t afford to have more ignorance spread in a time where people are having to fight for their rights.

We still gave a few weeks before Brüno hits theaters, but some of the first reviews of Sacha Baron Cohen‘s latest adventures as Brüno have just been released out of the UK and just like his hairless ass, they are glowing. There are a few things we have comes to expect from Cohen’s improvisational, documentary style films: lots of over the top of insults which will offend some if not all viewers, grotesque nudity that we don’t really want to see but can’t turn away from, and that type of painful laughter that makes you feel like you need a bath.
It looks like Cohen has delivered again. Check out some review snippets below…
