Bruce Willis Reviews, Interviews & More
The Die Hard franchise is just like its main character, John McClane—a tough little tank that keeps rolling along, despite the fact that it’s becoming an increasing annoyance to everyone around. And, just like John McClane, the Die Hard sequels keep showing up in “the wrong place at the wrong time,” i.e., anytime at all, because they are horrible...
If we have any enthusiasm for this summer's Red 2, it's not because of the first film (which was passably entertaining), but because it's directed by Dean Parisot. If that name doesn't ring a bell, he was the director behind Galaxy Quest, which is one of the best films of the last fifteen years. Perhaps he has the magic powers to wake Bruce...
Welcome to the gunshow. G.I. Joe Retaliation is where firepower, meets muscle and tanning oil. The sequel to 2009's Rise of Cobra is a livelier adaptation of the Hasbro property. That's not saying much considering the original film left much room for improvement. But director Jon M. Chu tries to right some of the wrongs plagued by its...
G.I. Joe: Retaliation, the sequel no one wanted to the original film no one liked, is almost upon us. And seeing as how it was set for a June 29, 2012 release date before being held back to March 28th of this year so Paramount could slather it with 3D effects and add a massive amount of reshoots, it should be really, really great! And now that the release date is looming, here are...
It's tough to maintain a decent movie franchise nowadays. A lot of them over time have shifted their main character into watered down versions of themselves, or lacking the action that once made the franchise notable in the first place. When it comes to A Good Day to Die Hard, the previews may show some gun-toting goodness, but the reviews don't...
Die Hard: An original, entertaining 1980s action film that featured a memorable villain and a unique conceit: a scrawny (for the 1980s) action hero who didn’t want to be a hero, and who spent most of the movie hiding in ventilation ducts. Die Hard II Die Harder: A miscalculation, but entertaining in a brainless way, simply because it...
It's now twenty five years since we first met Bruce Willis' John McClane, the wise-cracking New York cop who single-handedly took down a faux-terrorist organization while barefoot. As the sequels went on, the stakes grew impossibly larger, and age didn't seem to slow the character down in any way. For the fifth film, A Good Day to Die Hard, McClane is in Mother...
We might be skeptical about the eventual release of G.I. Joe: Retaliation, but it's only because Paramount delayed the film at the last minute, and claimed it was to post-convert the film to 3D, not to do extensive reshoots. From all word they didn't touch it much, so maybe it's not that bad? The latest footage looks fun, so there's that.
While the Sundance Film Festival is an opportunity to see a massive collection of new films, it’s also a wellspring of news about upcoming films in 2013, as several filmmakers are being asked about new projects. One such filmmaker? Robert Rodriguez, who dished about some big casting news for his upcoming Sin City: A Dame to Kill For.
Well, we’ll say this for the trailer for the Bruce Willis-starring Red 2: at least it’s not another Die Hard sequel. Even if it does feature Willis smirking his way through yet another action film for a paycheck, the trailer for Red 2 at least has a bit of charm and humor, even if it is a sequel to a film that was basically all empty calories. Check it out...
The MPAA has slapped A Good Day To Die Hard with an R rating, thus restoring our faith in humanity. Now get ready for a blood soaked, f-bomb ridden action blowout. This, of course, doesn't mean the movie will be any good, but it should put fans a little more at ease to hear that Bruce Willis had the liberty to curse whenever he pleased.
We're getting pretty close to the release of A Good Day to Die Hard, the fifth entry in the Die Hard franchise, and against our better judgement we think this might be a bit of fun. Starting slower than previous trailers, and with a little more deliberation, this looks like it could feature some good explosions and an awake Bruce Willis....
A Good Die to Die Hard, the fifth film in the increasingly embarrassing Die Hard franchise (the original was a classic, the second was a goofy but enjoyable cash-in, the third was a decent but ridiculous ‘90s actioner, the fourth was just terrible, and the trailers for this film… well, the less said, the better), now has a new poster. And, in the...
Originally scheduled to be a June 2012 release, G.I. Joe: Retaliation was bumped from this summer and moved to March 2013 to be retooled and converted to 3D. Now there's a new trailer to help sell its Spring launch, and it features a little more Channing Tatum, about the same amount of Dwayne Johnson, and a touch more Bruce Willis. Check it out.
With Thanksgiving this Thursday, there’s a paucity of new releases, partly because sales are going to be all about the discounts and deals that come with Black Friday. So there’s one new movie that’s actually pretty entertaining (The Expendables 2), one of the most famous bombs in the history of cinema, and a box set featuring most of the films of one of...
G.I. Joe: Retaliation was originally set to hit theaters this past summer, where it was on track to be one of the mega-blockbusters of 2012. Instead, Paramount pulled the film just one month before release—after already shelling out a ton on the film’s advertising campaign—to convert the film to 3D (translation: the film is terrible and would no way have stayed afloat in...
After seeing the terrible first teaser trailer for A Good Day to Die Hard—the fifth entry in a series of films about a NYPD cop who somehow keeps bumbling into/subsequently foiling terrorist plots for nearly 30 years now—one hope that the second, longer trailer would have more material to showcase. Surely, once more footage was available, we could see that the franchise had...
When otherwise normal actors step into action movies it's difficult to gauge whether or not it will work. Many will be taking that heroic leap as they check out Alex Cross this weekend as Tyler Perry makes the transition from an onscreen cross dresser to bona fide action star. Will his status change to that of an action star? It's up to audiences to...
Well. This certainly is…interesting. After getting our hands on the first official picture from A Good Day to Die Hard (the—sigh—fifth Die Hard film) yesterday, today we have the first teaser trailer for the film. And boy oh boy, is it ever a generic and slapdash mix of things blowing up, half-naked gals on motorcycles,...
Remember when John McClane was the antithesis of the ridiculous ‘80s action gods? Instead of steroid-bloated, machine-like and seemingly invulnerable killer, McClane was the little guy—a fairly normal fast-talking dude who just got stuck in the wrong place at the wrong time and had to think his way out. But over the course of several unnecessary Die Hard...
