One of today’s stories even include a man on the verge of losing his job, but you’ll understand the entertainment value when you read more about it. Let’s get to it…

Mel Gibson called reporter Dean Richards an asshole during a live interview this morning. Richards had the audacity to bring up Gibson’s drunken ventures and racist rampages, which apparently angered the actor. Please note that it looks like Gibson just got out of bed, and in his defense, he might not be a morning person. [Buzzfeed]
Harry Potter, President Obama and a yellow-eyed Sonic the Hedgehog have been mixed together on to one backpack. We’ve lost some great people in Hollywood because of prescription drug abuse, Michael Jackson, Heath Ledger, and now Brittany Murphy. The Clueless star died from pneumonia on December 20, 2009, but Los Angeles County coroner’s office said that “multiple drug intoxication” also contributed to her death. [Yahoo]

Earlier today news broke that actress Brittany Murphy unexpectedly died at the age of 32. Even though she was young, Murphy had an extensive resume that spanned all genres of film and television. She began her acting career as a television regular and then went on to star in the pop culture phenomenon Clueless. Murphy had more than a few starring roles up her sleeve and we’ve decided to take a look at a few…

Murphy made appearances in television throughout the nineties with guest spots on Sister, Sister, Boy Meets World, and Blossom. Her big screen break came when she starred as Tai, the naive makeover victim of Alicia Silverstone in Clueless. From that point on her career began to rise with roles in Girl, Interrupted, Riding in Cars With Boys, Don’t Say a Word, 8 Mile, and Sin City. Amongst all of her success, Murphy still found time to voice Luann Platter on Mike Judge’s animated series, King of the Hill.

Earlier today, we learned about the tragic death of Brittany Murphy and stars from all over are sending their condolences. The news has been a shock to everyone, so it’s no surprise that the world of Twitter is overflowing with reactions. Brittany Murphy Dead at 32

Brittany Murphy, the 32 year old actress best known for her roles in Clueless and 8 Mile has died. TMZ was one of the first to report the unexpected death of Murphy, which occurred earlier today. At the moment the cause has been cited as cardiac arrest and the story is still developing…

According to the site, Murphy went into full cardiac arrest this morning and couldn’t be revived. A 911 call was made at 8:00 this morning from the house owned by her husband Simon Monjack. A couple of hours later, the actress was pronounced dead on arrival at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. The official time of death was listed as 10:04 AM.

Murphy was discovered by her mother unconscious on the shower floor, and quickly called the ambulance. When the emergency technicians arrived they realized that she suffered a full on heart attack and began to administer CPR. Unfortunately, they were too late and she couldn’t be resuscitated.

Moyer, Murphy, and Guzman Join The Caller

Stephen Moyer, Brittany Murphy, and Luis Guzman have all landed gigs in the upcoming horror film, The Caller. True Blood’s Moyer can add this to his list of recent acting conquests thanks to the success of the HBO series. According to THR, the trio will appear in the Alcove Entertainment production that highlights one of the major cliche‘s in the genre.

Over at Bloody Disgusting, they have a rundown of the mysterious plot for The Caller.

When troubled divorcee, Mary Kee, begins to receive mysterious phone calls from an unknown caller she quickly begins to feel haunted in her own home. When she discovers that the person is calling from the past, Mary realizes that she will have to kill her in order to survive but how do you kill someone living in the past and what will happen if she fails.

At this point in Hollywood, haven’t we seen enough “caller” movies? The Scream series has exploited that device enough to last us a lifetime. The screenplay for The Caller was written by Sergio Casci, and will be directed by Matthew Parkhill. It’s sad to say, but there is nothing in this movie that sounds interesting.

Murphy and Moyer are OK, but Guzman is an amazing actor who’s been in everything under the sun. It will be odd to see him interact with the others, this is a strange group to throw together.

Brittany Murphy Joins The Expendables

We’ve heard so much about the male cast members surrounding the testosterone driven film, The Expendables that we’ve ignored it’s female co-stars. Just last month Buffy the Vampire Slayer/Angel alum Charisma Carpenter signed on to star in the film and now according to Empire, Brittany Murphy’s on board too. The film site reports that Murphy and fellow actor David Zayas officially joined the cast today. Expendables has already begun filming as you can tell from the set photos that sprung up online earlier this week, but Stallone’s still for lack of a better word “beefing up” his cast.

Within these past two months The Expendables has gained Carpenter, Murphy, Zayas, Steve “Stone Cold” Austin, and UFC fighter Antonio Nogueira. This film will re-team Murphy with her Sin City co-star Mickey Rourke as she will play the singer girlfriend of his arms dealer character. David Zayas a character actor, who’s appeared in films such as 16 Blocks and Michael Clayton, will play someone simply described as a “very bad man.”

It’s good to see Brittany Murphy working again. For the past three or four years she’s been M.I.A. No high profile films, no notable appearances on television, nada. Even though this is no 8 Mile, I hope it reminds people that she’s still alive and kicking. I can’t wait until this movie drops. I seriously need to know how all of these people are going to fit in one movie? I thought Ocean’s Thirteen was pushing it, but this has got them beat.
