Hugo Hugo: Movie Review

One of the side effects of Martin Scorsese being one of America’s greatest living directors is that every new picture is viewed under the magnifying glass of greatness. Is Hugo another in a line of great movies, or is it a muddled attempt at trying to do something out of his reach? Is it an old man picture, with modest pleasures but a looser grasp? Those seem to be the categories the film’s critics slotted the film into, with many adults deciding that Scorsese failed at directing a film for children, to which the only evidence is anecdotal. But the film is good, possibly great (time will tell), and the most engaging and engaged picture Scorsese has made in a while.

Hugo New Trailer for Martin Scorseses Hugo

Martin Scorsese‘s children’s movie Hugo is starting to build good word of mouth after a New York screening. The first trailer was a little more slapsticky and was selling the film more to children than film fans, and it seemed to suggest a lesser film, but it looks like the film is better than that, and the new trailer sells the scale and wonder. Check it out…

Apparently, it doesn’t take much to land a role in Transformers 3 (we’re looking at you Rosie Huntington-Whiteley), so Oscar winner Ben Kingsley decided to bring his F-game to his audition for the sequel. And by “F-game,” we mean there’s literally no effort being put into his performance and it’s HILARIOUS! The actor shot a short skit for George Lopez’s talk show “Lopez Tonight” where he poked fun at reality star Heidi Montag and her recent audition for the movie. Take a look…

Prince of Persia Gemma Arterton and Jake Gyllenhaal 10 3 10 kc Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time: Movie Review

Jake Gyllenhaal is a great actor but his talent is completely wasted on Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. If I could describe the film in one word it would be “boring.” This is supposed to be a blockbuster summer action flick and even though it’s being released at the right time, has the right producer (Jerry Bruckheimer), and the right studio backing it (Disney), it gets it all wrong!

And now we have Sir Ben Kingsley, the man that adds prestige to a Jerry Bruckheimer action film The Prince of Persia. There’s no doubt that there’s some good actors in this film, but Sir Ben reall ups the overall game and after talking to him he seemed to be happy to do so.

We had a chance to attend a video conference with Sir Ben while he was in London and find out a little bit more about how he had actually always wanted to be part of a Disney/Bruckheimer film and how he prepared for this role just like any other role. You can read some of the highlights of the interview or watch the entire video of the interview below…

shutter island b Shutter Island: Movie Review

After his long awaited Oscar win 3 years ago, Martin Scorsese is back behind the camera in his fourth collaboration with his muse Leonardo DiCaprio with Shutter Island. The film was moved back from its original October 2009 release date, due to various marketing strategies and Leo not being able to do any press tours as he was filming Christopher Nolan’s new film Inception. Is this latest collaboration between the two going to match up to Gangs Of New York, The Aviator and the Oscar-Winning The Departed?
