After 28 long years, Disney has decided to make a follow up to the 1982 film Tron. Even though the original wasn’t a box office hit, it spawned a very successful video game, and the film eventually became a cult classic. The sequel Tron Legacy is a father-son story that takes all the things we loved about the first movie and adds modernized special effects, a kick-ass soundtrack, and of course the return of Jeff Bridges as Kevin Flynn. CBS has every network beat when it comes to making successful spin-offs of their current shows. Their latest addition will leach off “Criminal Minds and star Oscar winner Forest Whitaker as the leader of a new group of profilers. The actor will make his first appearance onscreen this week, which will lead to the introduction of his character, his team, and eventually his new series.
For months there’s been speculation about who would be cast in the upcoming spin-off of the hit CBS drama, “Criminal Minds.” According to THR, the leading female role has been filled with one of the stars of Tron Legacy, Beau Garrett. That’s right the model-turned actress has been pretty busy these past few years and now she’s headlining her own show.
It’s here! The first casting announcement for the sequel to 1982′s Tron. According to THR, Olivia Wilde (House, The O.C.), and Beau Garrett (Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, Made of Honor) have both signed on to co-star in Tron 2.0, or TRZ, or whatever the hell you crazy kids are calling it these days.
