The speculation over the long developing sequel to The Dark Knight, has calmed down over the past couple of months. Mostly due to the fact that Christopher Nolan has been working on his latest film Inception, which is currently in post production. But, a “reliable source” over at batman-on-film.net, says that Warner Bros. will soon make a big announcement regarding the future of the Caped Crusader.

This shouldn’t come as news to any of us, Christopher Nolan’s sci-fi thriller Inception has taken first priority over the third Batman film. Over at MTV, Michael Caine (Alfred Pennyworth) gave an update on when we can expect to see another movie. Unfortunately according to the actor, the scope of Inception is so huge that everything else will have to take a backseat including the much anticipated follow up to The Dark Knight.

Rumors are going strong this morning with word that Megan Fox is in the running to play Catwoman. The comic book character best known for being Batman’s nemesis and sometimes girlfriend, was last played by Oscar winner Halle Berry. Catwoman was a horrible film, I won’t deny it, but sources are claiming that the Transformers star may be up for a revamp of the role. More below.

***Update: In a press conference with Gary Oldman who just commented on what he said earlier “I’ve said a lot, I’ve been a very naughty boy today…” Which leads me to believe that what he’s said is true. He didn’t say I shouldn’t have said that or that it wasn’t true. So apparently what’s below is true!***
***2nd Update: Video of this announcement added after the jump!***
Right now, I am sitting in the Warner Brothers panel at Comic-Con. So far, they have showed us some pretty cool clips, trailers, and had some interesting questions and answers. While promoting his upcoming film Public Enemies, Christian Bale gave Collider some details on his upcoming role in Fighter including a possible start date. Until now, nothing had been confirmed for the film, but Bale’s biceps seem to think they’re going to begin shooting soon. He seems to be eager to jump into Fighter, not only because it’s being made by recently Academy Award nominated Director Darren Aronofsky but because of the fact that he has been boxing like crazy to get in shape for the role.
Bale also spoke breifly about the chances of Batman 3 and Terminator 5 being made.
Check out what he had to say below…

Could director Christopher Nolan be turning his back on the bat? I know that was a corny opening but I had to do it. IGN is reporting that Nolan’s attachment to Warner Bros and a third Batman film isn’t set in stone. They cite a couple of sources that make his future with the rebooted franchise seem uncertain. Being that Batman is my favorite comic book character I had to delve in to this story.

Like most Batman fans I’ve been yearning for more of Gotham’s favorite anti-hero after last summer’s The Dark Knight. Director Christopher Nolan has kept any info regarding the next installment of the comic series away from all eyes and ears. Of course that hasn’t stopped rumors from running wild regarding possible villains and casting for the third film. Batman’s portrayer Christian Bale recently spoke about the next film in the franchise, and whether or not he or Nolan will return for another round.
