It’s safe to say, we’re all a little curious to see how Avengers is going to come together. We all know that having too much in one movie can hurt it, rather than help. Screenwriter Zak Penn has started talking about working on the project, which will not come out until 2012. Apparently the film is giving Penn a hard time. At the moment he is trying to figure out how to place stories from Captain America, Iron Man, and Thor into the new Avengers film without it being forced or cluttered. Penn also wanted to include the characters from The Fantastic Four but Fox turned that idea down (thank god!).
Penn is now working with writers, making sure they are all up to date with all the individual characters they will be including in the movie. They are doing Captain America and Thor first, and then Avengers is coming out. In an interview with SciFiWire Penn talked about this task:

Here’s a dose of what I like to call “news we can use.” Last week we posted a story that featured Marvel Studios producer Kevin Feige in which he gave a breakdown of what we can expect from the upcoming Marvel slate. Unfortunately for we got an e-mail from the studios asking us to pull the story, and it was taken down. But no worries because now we’ve got something even better to quench your comic thirst! This weekend the Produced by Conference was held in Culver City, California and Feige along with other Marvel executives took part in an open panel discussion where they gave some updates on their latest superhero films.

Sometimes I have to pinch myself when it comes to all the live action films that Marvel will be producing in the next three years. They’re shoveling out Iron Man 2, Thor, and Captain America, which will all lead up to the Avengers movie in 2012. In this case it seems like a lot to take in and seeing is believing, so over at AICN they’ve published some photos that will give us our first glimpse of the film’s image campaign.

The latest casting buzz surrounding Marvel’s individual Avenger’s properties has slowly moved from the Iron Man sequel over to Thor. In the past few weeks we’ve heard speculation regarding who will play the title role, as well as the main villain in the film. Some of the names that have been thrown around for Thor range from Kevin McKidd (Trainspotting, Grey’s Anatomy) to Alexander Skarsgard (HBO’s True Blood). Josh Hartnett has been rumored to play the film’s villain Loki ,the brother of Thor who is the self-proclaimed God of Evil. With Hartnett’s possible involvement already throwing me for a loop, I just got wind of an even weirder casting development. Ms. Natalie Portman may be in the running to star in the film as well!

This is a sad, sad day for me. I came across an article in the LATimes where actor Samuel L. Jackson debunks some rumors regarding his role as Nick Fury in The Avengers movie. Jackson made a cameo at the end of Iron Man as Fury, an agent from the ultra secret organization S.H.I.E.L.D. When speaking about his character’s return for any future Marvel films, Jackson didn’t sound too optimistic.
More on Fury after the jump.
