Avatar fans seriously wanted those free tickets for the upcoming preview screening. This Friday is Avatar Day, and conventional and IMAX theaters all over the world will be showing 15 minutes of footage from the film. Today tickets went on sale at the film’s official website AvatarMovie.com, and people attacked that thing for all it was worth. The system actually crashed! More on the site and it’s recovery below.

According to the LATimes, early next week free tickets will go on sale to see 15 minutes of early footage from James Cameron‘s Avatar. That’s right, I said free!

With Avatar Day (August 21) fast approaching, the news on James Cameron and his highly anticipated film will continue to roll in. Over at Screenrant, they’ve got some quotes from the director regarding his epic project’s story. So much emphasis has been put on the stunning visuals in the film, that the script has gone completely unnoticed. For the first time, in a long time we’ll have a big budget film that’s derived from 100% original material.
Last weekend at Comic-Con ’09, director James Cameron broke some top secret news about his upcoming film, Avatar. He announced that August 21st has been officially declared, Avatar Day. What does that mean exactly? Well, on that day movie goers will be able to get their first peek at footage from the film. Several scenes were shown at Comic-Con and I’m assuming they’ll premiere some newer footage during the day long event.
