It’s another solid week on DVD as two bona fide blockbusters hit shelves with holiday releases Sherlock Holmes and Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel coming out on DVD. Plus, the last at of the non-Avatar Best Picture nominees comes to your home theater as well. Even in a week where isn’t much TV on DVD this one is hard to beat.

Now that you’re all had the chance to see director Lone Scherfig’s adaptation of Lynn Barber’s memoir, An Education (and if you haven’t yet get to it!). It’s safe to talk about the possible alternate ending that Carey Mulligan told us about our interview with her a few weeks back. There are millions of choices that go into making film, and one can only hope that they get as many right as possible.
There is definite a truth behind the expression “movie magic” especially with a smaller film that’s on a budget. Getting the perfect shot, actors having an off day, the lighting, weather, injuries, or you name it, if it can go wrong, it will. There are normally two main reasons for an ending being changed, one is because something gets in the way of creating the perfect shot and the director has to divert from their original intention. The other is that once the movie is put together, and they’re sitting in the editing room something doesn’t work and the director has to make the decision about what to cut, keep, or change. In the case of An Education, both accidental and intentional forces came into play when deciding between the two possible endings.
WARNING: If you have not seen the film, for your own sake DO NOT read another further. With either ending, this is a great film and you should let it be a surprise. If you’ve seen the film, read on…

“Action is Character.”
When I think of this line from the film, I realize that it represents everything in it. Your action, in order to build your character, is to go and see this film. I assure you, you’re in for a real treat with director Lone Scherfig’s adaptation of Lynn Barber’s memoir, An Education. With some of the best performances that I’ve seen all year lead by the new “it” girl Carey Mulligan, when you see this film you’ll realize what all the buzz is about.

These two suave men give the cast of “Mad Men” a run for their money. Both Peter Sarsgaard and Dominic Cooper prefectly represent two men in the 60′s looking to live a life of luxury in Lone Scherfig’s upcoming romantic drama An Education. Although according to “Sars” (that’s what Carey Mulligan was calling him, so why can’t we?), luck has more to do with his characters success than his ability to be in any way cool and/or smooth… he had me fooled.
The duo is both strong and sexy, while remaining secretive and distant. Both work together to bring two immensely different characters to the screen that will blow you away.
Last week I had the opportunity of sitting around a table and talking to Sars and Cooper about their role in this sure to be Oscar nominated film.

The trailer for Lone Scherfig’s new film An Education starring Peter Sarsgaard, Alfred Molina, Emma Thompson, and featuring the next big name in Hollywood, Carey Mulligan, has just hit Yahoo! Movies.
This is one of those buzzed about films that you know you’re going to hear about come Oscar seasons. Everyone is calling Mulligan performance one of the best they’ve seen all year. She rumored to have a role in Oliver Stone‘s Wall Street remake with Shia LaBeouf, but even if that doesn’t happen, we’re sure to be hearing about more from her soon.
