The 82nd Annual Academy Awards really tried to step it up a notch with this year’s ceremony by having Steve Martin return to host alongside “30 Rock’s“ Alec Baldwin. Too bad for us, they didn’t really open the show. Instead we got an intro featuring the nominees for Best Lead Actor and Actress followed by a musical number from Neil Patrick Harris. THEN Martin and Baldwin descended onto the stage…literally.
Take a look and judge for yourself…

There are romantic comedies and then there are romantic comedies. It’s one of the most over-done, cliched genres out there, but when done right and lead by some of the best actors currently gracing the silver screen, they can be worth your while. Although It’s Complicated is not the best film of the year, there are plenty of great moments that make it the perfect, easy to watch, comedy for the Holidays…

DVD Releases are very comedy heavy this week as Ghosts of Girlfriends Past and Observe and Report bring the late-spring funny to DVD store shelves.
Also, as TV Season gets underway, it’s one of the last chances to catch up with last season as several shows release last year’s seasons on DVD including huge hits “30 Rock” and “The Mentalist.” And, as always, the three worst DVDs of the week.

We know our site isn’t a mecca for television watchers, but so many film stars cross over to the small screen, that it’s only fair we cover it. Alec Baldwin, Toni Collette, Glenn Close, and Holly Hunter are just a few actors who have made the jump to television and have had immense success while doing it. Back in July we posted the list of Emmy nominees, and conducted a poll with our readers asking who they thought should win in each category.
Find out if your Emmy predictions came true by viewing the full list of winners…

In this highly anticipated sequel to box office success “Madagascar,” directors Eric Darnell and Tom McGrath have once again managed to present an animated feature full of laugh out loud moments, emotional dilemmas and enough fun for kids and adults alike to enjoy.
We join Alex, a happy-go-lucky Lion with intriguing dancing skills, Marty, a chatty zebra, Melman, a hypochondriac giraffe and Gloria, a hippo with a bountiful backside as they plan to depart Madagascar to return to the Central Park zoo. Their mode of transportation? An old plane left on the island that the penguins have repaired with precision, or so we think.
The plane ride, although epic, is short lived, as it crashes with passengers and crew intact in the most unlikely (or likely!) of places – Africa.

New television shows seem to popping up faster than zits on a teenager these days. Every season there seems to be several new network shows boasting attachments to high-profile actors. But in recent years it seems that more often than not these names are of former A-List big screen players. Why do we see these stars making the jump? Steadier paycheck? Fewer location changes? Career revival? These are all reasonable answers for an actor to make their leap to syndication. Here are some big screen greats that have found marginal success as key players on television’s prime-time offerings.
Alec Baldwin- This award-winning, Oscar-nominated big screen star soared throughout the 90’s as an A-Lister. After Y2K paranoia fizzled out, it seemed as if Baldwin’s status did as well. He found himself taking cameo roles on less than stellar features(i.e. The Cat in the Hat) and guest spots on sit-coms(i.e.Will and Grace). But with Baldwin’s Emmy-Award winning performance as Tina Fey’s boss on 30 Rock, it’s easy to say Baldwin will remain a household name for sometime to come.
