What in the Oscar winning hell is going on here? I love Robert Rodriguez, but I would have never thought in a million years that he could get Adrien Brody to do a Predator movie. According to THR, the actor has signed on for the lead role in Predators, which will be produced by Rodriguez and directed by Nimrod Antal. Brody will also be joined by several other name supporting cast members, including a That ’70’s Show alum.

New Splice Photos are Pretty Impressive

Thursday, February 26, 2009 3:00PM - By alexandrakahn

baby Dren

Adrien Brody and Sarah Polley star in the upcoming thriller Splice, set to release some time in September. Director Vincenzo Natali is sort of new to the scene and is best known for his movies Cube and Nothing.

In Splice, Clive, played by Brody, and Elsa, played by Polley, create a “beautiful but dangerous winged human-chimera” named Dren. Clive and Elsa use a combination of human and animal DNA to create this odd and creepy looking creature. The idea of Splice plays off of 1995’s Species but thanks to modern technology is much more realistic and frightening. To view more pictures of Dren and the other characters in the movie check out Bloody Disgusting.

oscarspeechs09 2 19 5 Displays of Oscar Acceptance Speech Obnoxiousness

Winning an Academy Award must be a fantastic feeling. Just imagine, after years of hard work, one day your peers finally take note and say “you were the best this year.” Either that, or they say “sucks that you died so early, we really thought we’d get a chance to make it up to you for screwing you over in 2005. But better late than never, right?”  Which ever way it happens, an Academy Award is a special moment, and everyone treats it as such. Or at least in a perfect world they would. Sometimes, they pull stunts like this instead…

Top Ten Greatest Oscar Upsets

oscars06 crash 060305 Top Ten Greatest Oscar Upsets

It’s that time again. This Sunday, February 22, the 81st Annual Academy Awards will air on the ABC network. Every year one thing’s for certain, some nominees will take home a gold statue, while others will leave empty handed, which basically means someone will be disappointed. Any and everything that happens before the winners are announces means nothing once someone has a little gold man to hang on to. And yet people still talk about the “woulda, shoulda, couldas” of the night, especially when the sure thing, loses to the unexpected.

As much as everyone likes to bag on the Academy Awards for being stuffy and predictable, every once in a while you get thrown a curve ball. Sometimes it’s a refreshing surprise and other times it’s an complete snub. Over the eight decades that the Oscars have been awarded they’ve had their fair share of surprises and upsets that continue to be talked about years down the line.

Let’s take a walk down memory lane, and look at some of the greatest upsets in Oscar history.
