One of the many (and we do mean MANY) characters in Fox’s upcoming X-Men prequel First Class will be Raven Darkholme aka Mystique. The shape-shifting mutant was previously played by Rebecca Romijn in the original trilogy, but in Matthew Vaughn’s version Jennifer Lawrence will fill those shoes. The actress recently spoke to Hollywood Elsewhere about her “look” in the film and whether or not she’ll be sporting the blue body paint for her incarnation.

James McAvoy was the first actor cast in Matthew Vaughn’s upcoming film, X-Men: First Class as Professor Charles Xavier, the founder of the X-Men and the most powerful psychic on the planet. The sixties are alive and well on the set of X-Men: First Class. A few weeks ago producer Bryan Singer spoke about how time specific the film’s story would be. He stated that their wardrobe department would incorporate some campier outfits due to the decade that everything takes place. Judging from these first set photos, he was telling the truth. After the original X-Men Trilogy wrapped in 2006, two spin-offs were put into development: X-Men Origins: Wolverine and Magneto. Obviously, Wolverine has come and gone but Magneto hasn’t seen the light of day. Over the past few weeks, fans of the X-Men franchise have been sitting on pins and needles waiting for details regarding the plot to the prequel First Class. The recent influx of casting changes including the addition of January Jones as Emma Frost and Zoe Kravitz as Angel (Salvadore?) has taken people for a loop. Over at AICN, they were able to set the record straight with an interview from producer Bryan Singer who not only clarified the film’s story but also Kevin Bacon’s role as the villain.
