After the demise of Spider-Man 4, Sam Raimi has managed to keep himself busy with several high profile films including the live action adaptation of the popular video game World or Warcraft. It’s also been reported that he’ll be helming the Wizard of Oz prequel, Oz, The Great and Powerful starring Robert Downey Jr. Raimi recently attended the Saturn Awards and while on the red carpet, spoke to Collider about his involvement with both films.

There’s been a serious development on the World of Warcraft movie front. Director Sam Raimi recently told MTV, that the studio has found a writer in Saving Private Ryan scribe, Robert Rodat. A week ago there was some confusion about whether or not the film would be based on the actual game or the novel, “Arthas: Rise of the Lich King,” but Raimi has clarified that WOW will be an adaptation of the video game through and through.

Video game geeks rejoice! You knew this moment would come sooner or later. According to Variety, Spiderman director Sam Raimi has signed on to direct the big screen adaptation of World of Warcraft. The popular game series was originally launched in 1994, and has spawned several successful installments ever since. The last Warcraft game, “Wrath of the Lich King,” sold more than 2.8 million copies its first day of release!
