Wow… just, well, wow. Who would have thought that the collision of such comedic heavyweights—the Farrelly Brothers and the Three Stooges (well, people acting like the Three Stooges, anyway)—would be this, well, horrible? The trailer to The Three Stooges showcases all the old slapstick humor of the original troupe, but with none of the charm or zany wit; instead, we get lots of people being hit the groin, and the cast of Jersey Shore. Oh, good.

Well it’s about time—the Farrelly brothers’ update of The Three Stooges for 20th Century Fox has finally gotten another cast member. After endless cast reshuffles, it was announced last month that Mad TV’s Will Sasso will be starring as Curly in the film. And now, the brothers have found their Larry—Will and Grace’s Sean Hayes.

There’s been a lot of speculation over the years who might finally end up in Bobby and Peter Farrelly‘s Three Stooges film. Will Sasso, best known for his work on “MADtv” and “$#*! My Dad Says” is being touted by The Hollywood Reporter as the front runner for the role of Moe. This says a number of things about the project, which has been something the Farrellys have been talking about for over a decade and counting – though it looks as if it’s actually going to happen.

The Three Stooges movie is still going strong despite its multiple casting issues. The original three amigos may have jumped ship (Sean Penn, Benicio del Toro, Jim Carrey), but that hasn’t kept directors Peter and Bobby Farrelly down. They’re going to make this movie happen if it’s the last thing they do! According to Variety, one of the potential stars they’re courting is Jackass frontman Johnny Knoxville, who according to Variety, is officially in talks to star.

Directing brothers Bobby and Peter Farrelly have been hard at work promoting their latest film Hall Pass with Owen Wilson and Jason Sudeikis. At their promo stop in Los Angeles, they spoke at a press conference where they talked about another project they have on the horizon — The Three Stooges. The film, which has had its fair share of ups and downs, is said to be on the fast track to production. According to Bobby Farrelly, casting is underway and the shoot will begin this spring. About a year ago, there were rumors that MGM was going to make a Three Stooges movie with Sean Penn, Jim Carrey, and Benicio del Toro in the main roles. This hit a snag when Penn dropped out, Carey suggested it was dead, and MGM went further and further into debt. Today it was announced that 20th Century Fox has swept in to save the project and put it back on track.
