Now that the Sundance Film Festival is upon us it seems like the promotion for this year’s films has been kicked up a notch. Today several high quality photos from the biopic The Runaways have been released and they feature Kristen Stewart, Dakota Fanning, Michael Shannon, Alia Shawkat, and more…
The first teaser trailer has been released for the upcoming biopic, The Runaways. The film features former child stars and New Moon alumni, Dakota Fanning and Kristen Stewart in the lead roles of Joan Jett and Cherie Currie. The video is a teaser in every sense of the word but still manages to do a close up on Stewart’s infamous lip-biting.
It’s here– the first look into The Runaways. The film is based on the real-life girl-punk band The Runaways. The films stars the 15-year-old Dakota Fanning (who looks all grown-up) and Twilight‘s Kristen Stewart. Michael Cera isn’t the only child star from the Fox series Arrested Development making career moves. Do you remember Alia Shawkat? She played Mae “Maeby” Funke, the daughter of Portia Di Rossi and David Cross on the show. I haven’t seen her around lately, so I was a bit pleased to hear that she may be up for a high profile film gig. According to Latino Review the young actress may star in the upcoming punk biopic, The Runaways.
I have to be honest. I was at a junket for Adventureland but I didn’t actually ask Kristen Stewart any questions because she appeared so nervous that all I wanted to do was make her a cup of tea and tell her that we weren’t all out to get there. That being said she was able to confirm that New Moon is on it’s way, they’re currently in pre-production and that she and Dakota Fanning will be appearing in The Runaways in a rather “adult” scene.

Summit Entertainment officially broke the news that Dakota Fanning will play Jane in the Twilight sequel, New Moon. We along with several other sources have been reporting this for a while now, so its good to see the cats finally out of the bag. Fanning recently spoke to MTV about her latest role and the 15 year old actress is more than happy about working with the film’s leading man Robert Pattinson. She described him as “very, very cute.” Spoken like a true teenager. Check out more on her Jane character after the jump.
Kristen Stewart (AKA Twilight Chick) has just signed on to portray Joan Jett in “The Runaways.” The film will be a rock ‘n’ roll biopic of the 1970s all-girl band, written and soon to be directed by music video director Floria Sigismondi. “The Runaways” are famous for their song “Cherry Bomb” song and their leather and lace performances, which should make for a fun movie.
John and Art Linson and River Road Entertainment’s Bill Pohlad will produce the film and Jett herself will executive produce the film.
