The film features former child stars and New Moon alumni, Dakota Fanning and Kristen Stewart in the lead roles of Joan Jett and Cherie Currie. I have to be honest. I was at a junket for Adventureland but I didn’t actually ask Kristen Stewart any questions because she appeared so nervous that all I wanted to do was make her a cup of tea and tell her that we weren’t all out to get there. That being said she was able to confirm that New Moon is on it’s way, they’re currently in pre-production and that she and Dakota Fanning will be appearing in The Runaways in a rather “adult” scene.

Summit Entertainment officially broke the news that Dakota Fanning will play Jane in the Twilight sequel, New Moon. We along with several other sources have been reporting this for a while now, so its good to see the cats finally out of the bag. Fanning recently spoke to MTV about her latest role and the 15 year old actress is more than happy about working with the film’s leading man Robert Pattinson. She described him as “very, very cute.” Spoken like a true teenager. Check out more on her Jane character after the jump.

Kristen Stewart (AKA Twilight Chick) has just signed on to portray Joan Jett in “The Runaways.” The film will be a rock ‘n’ roll biopic of the 1970s all-girl band, written and soon to be directed by music video director Floria Sigismondi. “The Runaways” are famous for their song “Cherry Bomb” song and their leather and lace performances, which should make for a fun movie.
John and Art Linson and River Road Entertainment’s Bill Pohlad will produce the film and Jett herself will executive produce the film.
