This weekend, Natalie Portman was able to capitalize on the buzz generated from her Golden Globe win as her new film No Strings Attached opened at number 1 as we predicted .The Green Hornet showed a decent hold coming in at number 2, also as we predicted, dropping less then 50% ,while the The Dilemma fell to number 3.

Last weekend’s box office winner The Green Hornet will find itself sliding to the number two spot because Ashton Kutcher and Natalie Portman’s No Strings Attached should have enough steam to plow the competition. Moviegoers will find themselves catching up with last weekend’s Golden Globe winners as well as leftover holiday fare such as Little Fockers and Tron Legacy. All in all it should be an interesting weekend at the theater.

When Daredevil opened in February of 2003, it had been fending off months of bad buzz ranging from the choice of Ben Affleck, to middling reviews to picking a director who had never helmed a big budget action comedy based on a semi known comic book property before.
Sound like the case of The Green Hornet? Just like The Green Hornet, Daredevil was able to fight back against bad buzz, open to a solid number one opening , go on to gross nearly $200M worldwide and even spawn a spin off based on Jennifer Garner’s character, Elektra.

Our latest superhero is funny man Seth Rogen. This weekend he debuted a green eye-mask in The Green Hornet (review) and brought in $34 million, topping the box office charts, but still coming in under our predictions though we were dead on with The Dilemma and a number others. Also new this weekend was the Vince Vaughn and Kevin James comedy The Dilemma (review) which came in second under The Green Hornet. It’s 2011, and it’s in with the new and out with the old… movies.

Seth Rogen co-wrote and stars in this big screen adaptation of the popular TV series and radio show that centers on a millionaire who tries to clean up the crime-filled streets.
