A while ago we learned that Shia LaBeouf was set to star in a legal drama in the long running John Grisham films series. The movie is called The Associate, and it’s been a while since we’ve heard anything about it besides the actor’s casting. A while back we reported that Transformers star Shia LaBeouf would star in the John Grisham adaptation, The Associate. At the time there wasn’t a screenwriter attached to the project, but according to /Film that is no longer the case. Academy Award winning writer William Monahan has been a busy bee lately. He’s directing his debut film London Boulevard, which will star Keira Knightly and Colin Farrell this summer, and now he’s been tapped to adapt the latest Grisham novel.

After reading this latest casting news, I have to be honest with you, I feel a bit geriatric. Shia LaBeouf has just signed on to star in the legal thriller, The Associate. The film is based on the upcoming novel by John Grisham, the man whose book adaptations ruled the nineties. According to Variety, Paramount Studios have bought the rights to the book, and are ready to go.
