This Friday, the tropical thriller A Perfect Getaway might fly underneath your radar due to the high visibility of G.I Joe: Rise of Cobra. Getaway is a quiet killer in more ways than one. It features a cast of known but not overly exposed actors led by Steve Zahn and Milla Jovovich. The film is written and directed David Twohy, the man who wrote The Fugitive and Pitch Black. For three couples, A Perfect Getaway is anything but, it’s filled with murder, mayhem, and mystery set against the backdrop of paradise. Cue the irony.

It has just been announced by Variety that Steve Zahn, the funny man who we’re used to seeing as a side-kick or vying Jennifer Aniston’s love in the movie Management, will next star in Thor Freudenthal’s film, Diary of a Wimpy Kid. The movie which is about a wise-cracking junior high school student and also stars Rachel Harris, Zachary Gordon, Robert Capron and Devon Bostick. For once, Zahn is no longer the wise-cracking student but will be stepping out of the shadows as the boys father in this film.

I have to be completely honest, I had little to no interest in the David Twohy beach thriller A Perfect Getaway. Nothing against the cast, nothing against the director, but I just wasn’t interested. The film stars Steve Zahn, Milla Jovovich, Timothy Olyphant, Marley Shelton, and Chris Hemsworth aka Thor. The first trailer for the film has popped up online and it looks nothing like how I would expect. It actually has an eerie Deliverance vibe to it. The whole idea of being in a deserted, woodsy area surrounded by strangers who have serious ulterior motives is so uncomfortable to watch. At some point I was expecting Burt Reynolds to pop up from behind a tree with a bow and arrow!
Check out the trailer after the jump.

Jennifer Aniston will be starring in Stephen Belber’s new romantic comedy Management. She plays Sue Claussen, a cheap art dealer, who finds herself in a love triangle between her rich boyfriend played by Woody Harrelson and Steve Zahn’s sweet but underachieving assistant motel manager. Will Aniston ever find true love?
It looks like a typical rom-com, but more extreme. “Extreme” here means “physical stunts.” I wasn’t too impressed with the first half of the trailer; Steven Zahn asking to touch someone’s butt is almost as bad as Jennifer Aniston agreeing to let Steve Zahn touch her butt. Also, Steve Zahn playing an underachiever? That’s hardly groundbreaking. The same could be said about Aniston’s character… she rarely steps outside the girl-next-door-object-of-affection sort of role.
Still, it looks sweet, and that crazy Dr. Seuss-esque bicycle might make it worth seeing…

John Malkovich plays a “mentalist” who is quickly on his way out of the business, without him even knowing it in, The Great Buck Howard. You would like a psychic could see something like that coming. Hmmm… The film stars Colin Hanks, Tom Hanks, Emily Blunt, Steve Zahn, and of course Malkovich. They got everyone from Conan to Martha Stewart to make a special appearance in this. Looks like it’s going to be awesome!
