When the 2012 Summer Olympics roll around they’re going to have a tough act to follow. China really brought their A-game when they hosted the event with an opening ceremony that was calculated and breathtaking. Therefore London is bringing out the big guns. The Olympic committee has turned to native Brit and Oscar winning director Danny Boyle to help bring their show to life.
Dumbo — yes the Disney movie you loved as a kid — is going to join the likes of Beauty and the Beast and The Lion King. According to The New York Times, Disney Theatrical Productions and notorious theater director Stephen Daldry are developing an adaptation for the stage of the 1941 movie Dumbo.
Several months ago, Daldry, approached Disney with the idea, and how could Disney say no to the director who brought to the stage Elliot Smith: The Musical? Now, Dumbo (the musical) is in its initial stages. A creative team has yet to be assigned, and because of it, Dumbo won’t be hitting Broadway or any theater, any time soon. An executive for Disney said Wednesday afternoon:

I was absolutely blown away by this film. There have been so many films with promise this year, but this is the first film I’ve seen that actually achieves all it sets out to do.
Even though this is a film that deals with a topic that has been discussed before many times in cinema, everything about The Reader was refreshing. The director, Stephen Daldry, appeared to let the actors take risks and create something new and inspiring. The scenes played out effortlessly, almost without the words or dare I say against the words. This film makes you feel so many complex emotions all at once. The Reader is a rare piece of art that helps you find compassion for the things we were taught to hate without question.
