Picture 2 Where the Wild Things Are Featurette With Maurice Sendak

The video piece that was shown at the Where the Wild Things Are Comic-Con panel has made it’s way on to the internet. It features an in depth conversation with the book’s author Maurice Sendak. He talks about his inspiration for the story, his vision for the film, and how he believes Spike Jonze was the only director who could bring it to the screen. The footage is very endearing and insightful. You get to learn a lot about the history of the book in only a few minutes.

wherethewildthingsare Where the Wild Things Are Teaser Trailer

It’s finally here. The teaser trailer for Spike Jonze’s Where the Wild Things Are movie. For months we have been getting different promo images and posters thrown our way, and now we get some live action! The trailer is very scenic and not dialogue driven but the visuals speak volumes. It premiered this morning at the end of The Ellen Degeneres Show. Just looking at this takes me back to my childhood. I remember being afraid to read the book because of the creatures in it. This is nostalgia in a can for me. It looks as if Jonze has set this up to be a contemporary children’s classic that can be enjoyed for years to come. Check out the trailer after the jump!

wherethewildthingsareposter09 3 23 Where the Wild Thing Are Photos

After recently releasing the first poster for Where the Wild Thing Are, and with rumors floating around about a soon to be released trailer, USA Today has just released four new photographs of Director Spike Jonze‘s new film.

Jonze spoke to USA Today about how the book influenced him as a child and inspired him to create the movie. He said “As a kid, I just connected to it. I wanted to hear it over and over…It’s like trying to explain why you love somebody. To me, the Wild Things are both cuddly and dangerous. I wanted to climb atop of them like Max.” Apparently, Jonze, has known the author of the book Maurice Sendak, since 1995, when they originally tried to make the film. Sendak has supported the adaptation, and although he “had strong opinions” he ultimately told Jonze to “Make something personal to you.’”

Apparently the film version will give us some details about Max’s home life and why he felt he had to escape to a magical place. I’m not sure how I feel about that, but the photos sure do look amazing! Check them out below… Continue Reading
