Sean Penn is an extremely talented actor, and despite his personal affiliations you can’t knock the guy’s work. With two Oscars under his belt he’s still on the look out for hard hitting material like his latest gig, Genius. According to Reuters, Penn is in talks to play a famous literary editor in the film who oversaw the release of works by F. Scott Fitzgerald and Ernest Hemingway. The character is described as “eccentric,” which means the actor will have free reign to turn it up a notch.

It’s a war of words between the Oscar winning star of Dead Man Walking, Mystic River and Milk, and the lady from Predator 2: Sean Penn is taking heat from actress María Conchita Alonso over his comments concerning Hugo Chavez during a recent appearance on HBO’s Real Time with Bill Maher earlier this month.
For those not up to speed: the left-leaning Penn appeared on Maher’s program defending the Venezuelan leader, taking umbrage at the man’s portrayal as a dictator by the U.S. media.
