Miley Cyrus is going to come face to face with her alter ego on “Saturday Night Live.” The young singer/actress will appear on an upcoming episode of the sketch comedy series this spring. People.com has confirmed that she’ll take the stage as the host but not the musical guest. They’ll leave that job for someone else (perhaps someone better?)
Russell Brand has been announced as the newest host of “Saturday Night Live” according to an official press release posted by NBCUniversal. The British comedian will appear alongside musical guest Chris Brown, both of whom will be making their debut appearances on the show. We’re surprised that this is Brand’s first time on that famous SNL stage.
Last weekend, Oscar nominee Jesse Eisenberg hosted “Saturday Night Live,” and to the surprise of many, it was a funny episode! The Social Network star kicked off the show with a hilarious monologue that featured a special, special guest appearance by his alter-ego Mark Zuckerberg. As we all know, Zuckerberg wasn’t the biggest supporter of Eisenberg’s portrayal of him in the film, and when these two finally met face to face it was — awkward! Watch the meeting below…
Did you happen to catch “Saturday Night Live” this weekend? NBC aired the first new episode since the holiday break and they brought out the big comedic guns to ring in the new year. Jim Carrey (who was promoting I Love You Phillip Morris) was the host last week, and he breathed some much needed life into the show’s ratings. According to reports, he had the highest rated episode since Betty White hosted last May.
Gwyneth Paltrow is back in film promotion mode for her upcoming drama Country Strong. The Oscar winning actress appears as a country music superstar who has her fair share of demons (in a bottle). The film opens in theaters everywhere this Friday (January 7) but that won’t be the last you see of her. It’s been announced that she’ll be the host of next week’s episode of “Saturday Night Live.”
Last weekend, Oscar winner Jeff Bridges appeared as the host on the holiday themed episode of “Saturday Night Live.” Even though the show has been seriously lacking in the comedy department over the past few years, this latest installment had its moments. The writers teamed Bridges with an awesome blue creature from “Sesame Street” — Cookie Monster! If you remember, back in November Cookie Monster shot an audition tape (which went viral) to prove that he had what it takes to host SNL. He may not have gotten the gig but he did get to appear in this week’s opening monologue and we gotta tell you, he stole the show! Check it out…
If you caught this week’s episode of “Saturday Night Live” you were in for a rare treat. The show, which has been steadily declining in the humor department, was actually funny! The host was Anne Hathaway and they churned out some pretty solid sketches that mocked the recent engagement of Prince William, and the new too close for comfort TSA policy being enforced at airports. Live from New York, it’s a two-time Oscar winner, and a guy with the bluest eyes you’ve ever seen! Robert De Niro and Paul Rudd have been tapped to host episodes of NBC’s “Saturday Night Live.” Both actors have already appeared on the show in the past, do you remember De Niro’s cat-lady skit? What about Rudd playing the sleazy music video director behind Beyonce’s “Single Ladies” parody? Hopefully these two can add some much needed life to the lackluster series.
The new season of “Saturday Night Live” kicked off with former castmember Amy Poehler as the host and Katy Perry as the musical guest. The singer appeared in multiple skits during the show including the infamous “Bronx Beat,” which reunited Poehler and Maya Rudolph. This was the perfect opportunity for Perry (and her people) to address the recent drama surrounding her and “Sesame Street“.
The singer has beef with Elmo! She taped a segment for the show only to learn that it wouldn’t air on the popular children’s series because she was showing too much cleavage.
