Fresh off the heels of the second (final) season of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Thomas Dekker TV’s version of John Connor may have found another project to occupy his time. According to Shocktillyodrop, Dekker is nearing a deal to star in the Samuel Bayer helmed A Nightmare on Elm Street . He will play opposite Watchmen star Jackie Earle Haley , who is set to star as the famed child killer Freddy Krueger a role that was originated by Robert Englund.

With the release of the new Friday the 13th set to hit theaters this weekend, New Line Cinema has fast tracked the production process for their revamp of Nightmare on Elm Street. According to THR, the studio has found a director for the project, and could start principal photography as early as this spring. Samuel Bayer has been attached to direct, and will be making his feature film debut with the remake.
