Sam Worthington is really moving in on the larger than life superhero, man of the hour genre of action films. Being a Terminator, a Greek god, and a Na’vi just aren’t enough because according to Pajiba he’s about to take on the role of Dan Dare: Pilot of the Future. The old school comic character who made his debut in the 1950s will get a live action update featuring Worthington as the title character.
Sam Worthington will give his best Texas drawl when he stars in the upcoming thriller, The Fields. The Australian actor has been a hot commodity as of late and he’s taking full advantage. Over the weekend rumors sprung up that Worthington would take part in the film, and THR just released a confirmation that his casting is legit.

Dammit Sam Worthington! I thought you were going to take a break from this iconic stuff? It’s just been confirmed by the trades that the actor is in talks for the upcoming vampire film, Dracula: Year Zero. Earlier today we got the scoop from Latino Review that Universal was eyeing the actor to take on the legendary character and it sounds like he’s going to do it.
Don’t get me wrong, Sam Worthington is one of the best Australian imports we’ve had stateside in a very long time, but this kid is everywhere. He was the lead in Terminator Salvation, James Cameron‘s Avatar, the upcoming remake of Clash of the Titans (which looks awesome by the way), and now there’s talk that he’ll play Dracula? Has he been bitten by the vampire bug too?
At some point the super hero rumors surrounding Ryan Reynolds have to cease and desist. He can not play every good guy in the universe and neither can Sam Worthington. Both actors are fun to watch but their monopoly on the action genre is getting a little old. Today the internet has been buzzing with the rumor that both actors are in the running to star in the reboot of Flash Gordon…
So now that you’ve had the chance to see James Cameron‘s self-proclaimed masterpiece Avatar starring Sam Worthington (who had an American accent for most of the film), Zoe Saldana, and Sigourney Weaver, what did you think? As you can tell from my review, I thought it was as epic as it needed to be, but still had a number of problems.
The hype for this film was so intense that it’s hard to imagine anything living up to it. Cameron himself commented on the fact that the buzz might actually be the films greatest downfall. Can anything live up to the expectations fans had for it?
