We’ve known for a while that Warner Bros has been looking to produce another remake of the classic, A Star is Born, and today a strange casting rumor has sprung up. According to The Los Angeles Times, Oscar winner Russell Crowe is up for the lead role as the has-been husband, a part that was last played by Kris Kristofferson.

The first official photos from Ridley Scott’s Robin Hood have surfaced on an Australian website called, CourierMail. The film’s two leads are natives of the country so we shouldn’t be surprised that they got first dibs on any images. The pictures feature Russell Crowe as the title character, Cate Blanchett as Maid Marian, a few of the Merry Men, and director Scott.
The Paul Haggis directed thriller The Next Three Days just got three big additions to its cast. Tony award winner Brian Dennehy, eight year-old Ty Simpkins and recording artist the RZA are in negotiations to co-star in the already star studded cast led by Russell Crowe and Elizabeth Banks. The film is a remake of the French thriller Pour Elle and is scheduled to start shooting in Pittsburgh next week.
After last week’s DVD bonanza, this week is a little short with just State of Play to wet your home video appetites. Crowe is in final negotiations to star in the film, which will be directed by writer-director Paul Haggis. The two Oscar winners will team up for the feature that will be produced and distributed by Lionsgate, the same company that backed Haggis’ 2004 effort Crash.
