After months of speculation and waiting, Deadline is reporting that David Fincher has finally cast the female lead in his adaptation of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. The site confirms that both the director and Sony Pictures have agreed that Rooney Mara (A Nightmare on Elm Street) is the girl for the job.

More casting news to report from the upcoming Facebook film entitled, The Social Network. The David Fincher production already features Justin Timberlake, Jesse Eisenberg, and Andrew Garfield as the main characters in the adaptation based on the book, The Accidental Billionaires: The Founding of Facebook, a Tale of Sex, Money, Genius and Betrayal. It appears that six more actors have joined the cast, and for the most part they’re all under 25.
