Resident Evil Retribution is the fifth film in the franchise and reunites many of the series stars, including Milla Jovovich, Oded Fehr, Sienna Guillory, Jason Isaacs, and now Michelle Rodriguez – who was killed in the first film. Perhaps director Paul W.S. Anderson is going for that Fast Five feel. Here’s some news that we saw coming a mile away. Screen Gems has just announced the release date for their next sequel in the Resident Evil franchise. The film, which is tentatively called Resident Evil 5, is a follow up to fourth installment in the series Afterlife. If you saw the last movie, it gave a strong indication that there was more zombie action headed our way.

To the surprise of no one, Resident Evil Afterlife dominated this weekend’s box office coming in at number 1 with $73.2 million worldwide. There was no real competition to go up against the zombie flick, and with the increased price of 3D tickets, it was sure to turn a decent profit. According to star Milla Jovovich, Afterlife is the first Resident Evil to open at number 1 worldwide, and yes, there will be another one.
