Academy-Award nominee Ralph Fiennes has joined the grand old writing/acting team Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant’s in their first feature film together Cemetery Junction. Although shooting just started last month, a short but sweet trailer, or rather introduction video has just been posted for the film.

The trailer doesn’t give you much away, it merely the two directors having a good laugh with Fiennes — who has a surprisingly good sense of humor seeing as they spend the majority of time poking fun at him, in their own Gervais, Merchant way. For any of you who watched the amazing TV show “Extras” you’ve seen their style before, it’s hilarious.

Honestly, I’m already sold on the film. Take a look “trailer” the jump:

If you’re ready for a painful experience about war that will open your eyes and have you sitting at the edge of your seat, then you need to check out Kathryn Bigelow’s new film, The Hurt Locker. The story is about three Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) squad soldiers who risk their lives and often give their lives trying to protect other soldiers by disarming bombs. It’s not an easy ride. The film has many intense emotional and action packed scenes that are gripping and terrifying simultaneously.

The film stars Jeremy Renner, Anthony Mackie, Brian Geraghty, Evangeline Lilly, Ralph Fiennes, David Morse, and Guy Pearce. Without giving too much away, you don’t want to be an A-list movie star in this film. It seems Bigelow gave both Fiennes and Pearce a fairly rough ride in the film, although it was great to see them showing their support for the film. Even if she does kick their asses a bit.

Review: The Reader

thereaderme08 12 10 Review: The Reader

I was absolutely blown away by this film. There have been so many films with promise this year, but this is the first film I’ve seen that actually achieves all it sets out to do.

Even though this is a film that deals with a topic that has been discussed before many times in cinema, everything about The Reader was refreshing. The director, Stephen Daldry, appeared to let the actors take risks and create something new and inspiring. The scenes played out effortlessly, almost without the words or dare I say against the words. This film makes you feel so many complex emotions all at once. The Reader is a rare piece of art that helps you find compassion for the things we were taught to hate without question.

New Trailer: The Reader

thereader 1 New Trailer: The Reader

Am I the only one who has been waiting for a passionate plot surrounding literature? The love of books evolving into a love between two individuals? I would assume not. For those who have let this wish gather dust in the alleys of their hopes, the wait is over.

The Reader, starring Kate Winslet and Ralph Fiennes, is the story of a teenager, Michael (Ralph Fiennes), and middle aged woman, Hanna (Kate Winslet), in post WWII Germany. After Hanna helps Michael one day, he seeks her out to thank her, and a passionate affair ensues. He loves to read, and she loves to be read to. And, really, there is nothing else to say.

This film looks like a promising adaptation of the German novel. What less can a person expect from a novel that has been translated into thirty-nine languages?
