Tyler Perry is stepping outside of his comfort zone with his latest film, For Colored Girls. It’s the first film that he’s written and directed that’s not based on his own material. The story is adapted from the award winning stage play For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf, which was penned by Ntozake Shange in 1977. Tyler Perry is stepping outside of his comfort zone with the drama For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Enuf. It’s the first film that he’s directed that isn’t based on his own material. It’s an adaptation of a play by Ntozake Shange, that features a series of monologues based on the colors of the rainbow. Lionsgate has released the first official photo from the film and it features an amazing cast including Janet Jackson, Phylicia Rashad, Kerry Washington, and Thandie Newton.
