It’s a bit of a nerd Nirvana on DVD this week as three different sci-fi/fantasy/comic book parodies all arrive at once with the releases of Paul, Your Highness, and Super. So get your condescending laughs ready.
For those not looking for the geek-parody genre in order to fulfill their home entertainment desire, there are even more feature films hitting shelves this week, plus another that suffered the sad fate of having its premiere in stores.

Yes, $19 million is a modest amount when we’re speaking Box Office terms, but this weekend $19 million was enough to make Bradley Cooper‘s Limitless No. 1. The Hangover star beat out Matthew McConaughey‘s The Lincoln Lawyer and Battle: Los Angeles (the war film didn’t do as well as we had predicted).
Also new this weekend was Universal’s Paul, which stars plenty of hilarious people like Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Seth Rogen, Jason Bateman, and Kristen Wiig (the list goes on). Despite falling at No. 5, the sci-fi comedy was neck and neck all weekend long with The Lincoln Lawyer and just barely lost out by a couple of thousand.

This weekend, frequent collaborators Simon Pegg and Nick Frost will once again grace the big screen together. The duo have previously appeared in the hits Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz, and now they’re taking the sci-fi genre by storm with Paul. I recently had the opportunity to speak with Pegg about his latest feature and we discussed everything under the sun: aliens, Comic-Con, “Spaced,” and even “Cougar Town!” It was an interesting and fun conversation to say the least!

The genius behind Superbad, director Greg Mottola has teamed up with Simon Pegg and Nick Frost for another comedic adventure, this time featuring an alien named Paul, voiced by none other than Seth Rogen. Yeah, it’s basically the pick of the comedian crop in Paul, with the supporting characters being played by none other than Jason Bateman, Kristen Wiig, Bill Hader, Blythe Danner, Joe Lo Truglio, John Carroll Lynch, David Koechner and Sigourney Weaver. It will be a travesty if this bad boy isn’t funny.
Though the trailers have been rather mild until now, IGN has just posted a new trailer for the film with a bit more bit…
