When the Oscars were announced, there were some favorites that didn’t make the cut. It happens every year, and a number of performers – like Albert Brooks in Drive, Patton Oswalt and Charlize Theron in Young Adult, and Tilda Swinton in We Need to Talk About Kevin were not nominated. Oswalt – on Twitter – joked about having a party for the snubbies, and Vulture brought this to Swinton’s attention. Her response: she’d be there in a heart-beat.

Earlier this week, production on the third film in the popular Harold and Kumar series began. The film is called A Very Harold And Kumar Christmas and will once again feature John Cho and Kal Penn as the stoned title characters. Over at Funny or Die, they’ve managed to produce another one of their “exclusives” that includes random actors making fun of random things. In the case of Weird: The Al Yankovic Story, I was actually taken for a loop. Not only does the trailer for the fake film look authentic, but it kind of makes you yearn for the real deal. The cast includes the talented “Breaking Bad” star Aaron Paul as the title character, and Gary Cole and Mary Steenburgen as his disapproving parents. Check it out…

Patton Oswalt is taking a walk on the dramatic side with first time director Robert Siegel‘s film about, you guessed it, a big fan. Only, he’s not just any big fan, he finds himself being beaten up by his favorite player and then suing him for $77 million. For those of you who don’t remember Siegel was the brains (aka the writer) behind Darren Aronofsky‘s film, The Wrestler starring Mickey Rourke and also a former editor for The Onion. Sounds like he’s got the smarts and the ability to pull off an amazing film.
Although you might be thinking that this could be going in a comedic direction due to Oswalt lead in the film, audiences at Sundance were amazed to see such a dark and dramatic performance from the comedian and the trailer below really gives us a sneak peek into what we can expect from both the actor and the director.
Check out the trailer now…
